2020 is our best year in business & weāre only in Q1. š° Hereās what we did last year to set ourselves upšš½ ā Clearly define the business relationship between Izzy & I. Visionary vs. Integrator. ā Systems & processes. We still have a ways to go on this one. But weāre moving because we didnāt ignore this part (even though we wanted to š). ā Failure. ā Only focus on what we are the best at & got rid of everything else. ā Identify strategic partners & start asking for referrals. ā Create content. And get clear on what content brings in the leads. ā Told our coach to fire us if we didnāt meet our sales goal. ā Talk & create with purpose... not out of fear of being irrelevant. āCareer contrariansā donāt conform to conventional or practical approaches, education or paths, and instead, seeking alternative means to professional fulfillment. Here are six ways you can, too: 1ļøā£ Realize that there is more than one path to successāand itās probably non-linear. Shift your mindset to move past any preconceived notion of what you āshouldā be doing and create a path that is uniquely yours. 2ļøā£ Get comfortable being uncomfortableāeven, and especially, when you fail. If youāre afraid to fail, youāll never grow. Getting out of your comfort zone means you move past your fear to take risks. 3ļøā£ Trust your gut. Career contrarians are driven by instinct and belief in themselves. 4ļøā£ Play the long game. Focus on the long game by having the patience to maintain clarity and discipline on your desired outcome. 5ļøā£ Eliminate the negative self-talk. The number one barrier that holds people back from fully realizing their potential is negative self-talk. 6ļøā£ Consider that taking an alternative path may inspire someone else to do it, as well. When you have the courage to forge a unique professional path and find fulfillment in the process, you demonstrate to others that itās possible for them to do it as well. "We can build a smart hospital within a few days." That's what Kimberly Powell, VP of healthcare at NVIDIA told me recently. To be honest, the statement made my jaw drop. Could it be relized everywhere or only in selected hospitals? How would a "smart hospital" that's built within days look like? Why is it smart - how is it equipped? We are also working with them to show how they are planning this (updates soon!), and for thinking together, I'm really curious about your insights. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #smarthospital #smarthospitals #nvidia She also told me: "We are building a time machine for healthcare researchers harnessing accelerated computing and AI and a real-time response system for healthcare professionals and patients powered by AI and edge computing. In the case of infectious disease or cancer research, every day counts. The world can generate more biomedical data than ever before in our lifetime. Healthcare R&D can no longer take 5-10 years to discover a vaccine or a drug and now has called upon accelerated computing and AI to transform their workflows and do years of research in a matter of hours or days." ā¦see more
A.I. algorithms can already forecast an outbreak in advance. Telemedicine saves doctors and patients from unnecessary contact, thus reducing the risk of contagion. Drones can already deliver medicine. At-home tests are available for several diseases. Still, we perceive that these innovations aren't improving the course of COVID-19 significantly - not yet. But how would this pandemic have looked like in a digital health utopia, where all these are omnipresent? #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #COVID19 #COVID_19 #coronavirus ā¦see more
The Canadian government recognized the current challenges in their healthcare system alongside the rapid technological developments and their potential for changing medicine for good. Thus, a Senate Committee invited me along other researchers, ethicists, entrepreneurs, and futurists to discuss the way forward. They published their findings containing actionable recommendations for the future. This is the way every responsible government should follow if they want to bring their healthcare system into the 21st century. Iām honored to have taken part in that. With today's across-the-board fall in yields on US government bonds -- reflecting the combined impact of lower economic growth expectations and further signs of an ultra dovish Federal Reserve -- a number of new record closing-level lows could well be set for several maturities. #economy #markets ā¦see more
A Bloomberg Markets' reminder of the continued out-performance of US stocks. Despite many people's repeated advice -- for years now -- to fade US stocks in favor of the rest of the world, I continue to feel that it's not yet time to do so ... unless I'm wrong and we're on the verge of a global V which would boost other markets more than the US. More generally, the relative positioning in markets (e.g., US stocks vs the rest of the world, strong balance sheet quality names vs more speculative names, etc) seems easier than the absolute positioning (particular, the amount of equity risk to have in investment portfolio). #markets #investing #equities #stocks #stockmarket #economy #bloomberg #bonds #economy #investmentmanagement #assetallocation #assetallocation #fed #fixedincome #centralbanks #federalreserve #volatility #interestrates #emergingmarkets #earnings #monetarypolicy #highyield #investors #yields ā¦see more

One of the most saddening aspects of this already-shocking US chart from CNBC is that the left-hand-side scale will have to be reconfigured to accommodate the much bigger numbers ahead. I've no idea why every company doesn't meet once a month to figure out how it can be even easier to take customers money. If only we had the same level of passion to speedy booking flows, employing enough sales people, taking many payment options, as we do to "brand purpose" or making ads.

Pop quiz: Whatās the difference between traction and distraction? š¤ Itās not the activity youāre doing. Itās not when youāre doing it. Itās not how effectively youāre doing it. The difference between traction and distraction comes down to one word: forethought. If youāre doing something you intended to do in advance, youāre practicing traction. If youāre doing something you didnāt intend to and are doing impulsively, youāre experiencing distraction. Finishing a work project early and watching your favorite Netflix show can be traction...if thatās how you intended to spend your time. Traction helps us accomplish goals; distraction leads us away from them. But you canāt call something a distraction unless you know what itās distracting you from. How do you practice traction? What are some of the things you make time for? #Indistractable #Values #Scheduling #Behavior ā¦see more

I almost quit speaking after my 2nd speech. A handful of others spoke that day and I compared myself to every single one of them ā which only made things worse. It was terrible. I wanted to hide in the bathroom. Then someone that I looked up to immensely (and still do) told me that I was real & that she thought my speech was great. If I quit that day, I never would have: ā Done a TEDx talk, spoke at INBOUND, VIDCon or any of the other speaking gigs that I used to dream about. ā Given myself the space & patience to improve, known if I was good enough, or if I enjoyed it. ā Met many of my friends. ā Been able to capitalize on the opportunities that I have had because of speaking. 2020 is a fresh start for a lot of people. It doesnāt really matter what youāre doing⦠but sometimes youāre going to royally suck at things. Sometimes you will want to quit things because you donāt think youāre making the progress that you should be. Or worse, because youāre comparing yourself. Yes, be patient with yourself. But I think even more importantly, surround yourself with people that love you and have your back. Through the wins, the losses, and the mediocrity. Support system is everything. Especially in those initial months/years of picking something up. #justQ šš½š¤ ā¦see more
