I wonder how long it will be before pretty much all new buildings will have photovoltaic roofs. Just imagine what that will change in the world. A paradigm shift to decentralized power combined with electric cars, very exciting times.

Thank you all. Great response to this post. Many have mailed their CVs. I have passed on to each of them to the organisation and you must have already heard from it. It will screen and move to the next stage. The window is closed for now. If any one who had mailed but have not heard from the org, do write to me. A medium-sized MFI-NBFC is looking for a CFO. The location is not Mumbai but a metro city. Some one ambitious and looking for a meaningful career may find the assignment interesting. And if you do, feel free to write to me. I can connect with the org. One can join soon... #MFI #NBFC #CFO #CA #Finance #financialinclusion #accounting …see more

Habits are one of the ways the brain learns complex behaviors. Neuroscientists believe habits give us the ability to focus our attention on other things by storing automatic responses in the basal ganglia, an area of the brain associated with involuntary action. Habits form when the brain takes a shortcut and stops actively deliberating over what to do next. The brain quickly learns to codify behaviors that provide a solution to whatever situation it encounters. This is why companies that help shape habits have such a profound impact on their customers’ lives. Habit-forming products change user behavior and create unprompted user engagement. The aim is to influence customers to use the product on their own, again and again, without relying on overt calls to action such as ads or promotions to bring them back. We can use the principles of habit-formation to build healthy habits in people’s lives. Many tech critics have an incredibly narrow view of distraction. They urge us to stop checking social media, to stop flipping between apps, and to cut ties with the internet. That’s ridiculous. Technology is wonderful. It allows us to transfer ideas, explore entire worlds, and even stay productive during a global pandemic. There’s no moral hierarchy between how people spend their past time. There’s no difference between planning to go on Facebook and watching daytime TV. There’s no difference between scrolling on Instagram and looking through a magazine. There’s no difference between spending a few hours on YouTube and spending a few hours watching a football game. What’s important is that you spend your time in a way that aligns with your values and according to your schedule, not some media company’s. Do you spend your time according to your values? #Indistractable #Values #Schedule #Productivity …see more

Nostalgia makes us feel happy. It brings us together on shared memories and makes us feel warm. Maybe it gives us meaning and hope. It takes us back to a feeling of life being easier and simpler (which may or may not be true). I am not a Mumbaiite or Bombayite as people there would refer to themselves back then. Mumbai, then and now, is not just a city; it's an emotion for many, the vintage photographs were interesting to watch. An emotion of a place where you can dream for a better life and a better #future . A city where every successful person started with an impossible dream and somehow held onto that belief and, despite odds and setbacks, persevered in fulfilling their aspirations, and hence continuing the chain of human hope and endeavor. Much like the story of every entrepreneur, chasing impossible dreams and proving that hard work can make dreams into reality. Video Source: BOMBAY 100 years ago #Happiness #Mumbai …see more

What is the highest and best use of your talents? Many of us spend years downplaying our abilities, relegating them to a mere hobby, or as something impractical. We think if something comes easy to us, or it varies from what’s expected of us, that it must not have much value. Instead, we excel at things that leave us outwardly successful but miserable and unfulfilled. But something magical happens when you develop the self-awareness to identify what sets you apart, and then use your unique talents to magnify your impact. The sooner you can do this, the sooner you can elevate your career—and your happiness. Have you discovered—and finally acknowledged—the highest and best use of your talents? #career #success #personaldevelopment …see more

There are myriad ways to express gratitude to others, including writing a handwritten note to thank a mentor who's had a meaningful and positive impact in your life, giving verbal props at a team meeting to a colleague for the way she handled a tricky situation, or calling a client to check in and thank her for her business. The key to helping make your gratitude meaningful to others is to ensure that your actions align with three criteria: 1. Is it frequent? Being grateful once a year (think: annual reviews and holiday parties) doesn't cut it. Gratitude is a daily effort. 2. Is it genuine? Those people you're trying to impress? They'll see right through your fake thankfulness, and it will backfire, making you (and them) feel lousy. Remember, being grateful isn't about scoring points; it's about strengthening relationships. Be genuine with your gratitude. 3. Is it specific? Saying "thank you" to someone means so much more when it's accompanied by specificity. When you take an extra step and include what, exactly, you're thankful for, the receiver better understands why his or her actions incited gratitude—and is more likely to replicate them in the future. #leadership #gratitude #career #communication …see more

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! 🎄🎅🎄 This holiday season, I got a lot of notes like the one below that moved me! 🙏🏻 Those of us who have signed up to be leaders, agreed for a lot of responsibilities, on top of that list is inspiring / mentoring those around us. Receiving this note from a person who has worked with me intimately, humbled me and inspired me to continue to lead with the highest standards and values, to drive for outcomes while always having empathy in mind, and to advocate for what’s best for the business even though others may not see that immediately. Cheers to an awesome 2020! 🎉🥂🎄 #leadership #leadershiplessons #happyholidays #merrychristmas #empathy #productleader #empatheticleadership #outcomedriven …see more

What are digital biomarkers? The spread of wearable digital technologies in healthcare generating big data entailed the appearance of a new type of medical information. They produce actionable insights into the biological state of individuals, just as “general” biomarkers, but are collected through digital tools. Once again, the markets have brushed off the partial tightening of monetary policy by Turkey leading to another 1% weakening in an already beleaguered currency. With that, the fx issue has become more of a one issue standoff: The size and timing of a rate hike. Yet the weaker the currency, the more multi-dimensional the issues and the greater the challenges in stabilizing the currency longer-term. #currency #markets #economy #investing #volatility #economics #centralbanks #fx #currency #Turkey …see more
