At Slack ’s company HQ there’s a motto on the wall in bright pink neon letters, "Work hard and go home." Here's why 👇 Slack’s culture goes even deeper than its slogans. Slack management leads by example to encourage employees to take time to disconnect. Among the many Slack channels within the organization, the ones company leadership takes most seriously are the feedback channels. They are not just for sharing opinions on the latest product release; they are also for sharing thoughts about how to improve as a company. Slack addresses workplace distraction by opening up a dialogue. #Indistractable #Culture #Tech #Wellbeing …see more

We challenge our #TransUnion teams to build products that solve problems that matter! I'm still buzzing from the many engagements and client projects that came to a close this week... Including part 3 of our 3-part LinkedIn Local Madison series! We came, we laughed, we conquered... And made incredible friendships along the way! SO much love to our sponsors Julie Sternal and Ryan Jacobson for providing the gorgeous space at Serendipity Labs . And there is NO way I could have pulled this off without our ambitious and helpful hosts, Melanie Ruelas , AJ Sue (he-him) , JARED J.Wiese , and Carolyn (Carrie) Bohlig 🎤 My heart is absolutely swimming in the love and support you all have shared with me as I also just broke through 40k followers in my LinkedIn family! And a huge shout out to Jill Myhre , Kristin Stutz and Steve who drove 2.5 hours to attend this morning! Have you attended a LinkedIn Local?! What has been your favorite takeaway?! What is your favorite event format?! Ah! Let’s be honest: 2020 has been a sh*tshow. 💩 But a year from now, your life and career could look entirely different. Use the power of #visualization to pen a letter to your future self and be sure to: Make it aspirational 🌟 Don’t be afraid to dream big. To achieve something you never had, you need to do something you’ve never done, and right now, that might mean dropping your limiting beliefs and closed #mindset . Consider this: if all the bad events of 2020 can happen, why can’t the pendulum swing the other direction? Make it specific 🎯 When you have #clarity about your future, you can more easily envision it. Imagine it’s September 2021—what, specifically, do you hope to be celebrating? What do your life and career look like? Challenge yourself to be curious about the possibilities. Make it positive 👍 With so much negativity thrown at us in 2020, it’s easy to dwell on what’s gone wrong. And that’s okay, as long as you use looking back as a chance to learn. Use that information to reframe your experiences in a positive manner to help you make #progress and envision your #goals . The beauty of writing your future self a letter is that you control the narrative. And this is one story that is sure to have a happy ending.✨ #leadership #career #perspective …see more

Coping when you get sick or injured—it’s tough. My husband came home yesterday in a cast after tearing his Achilles’ tendon. And he was very irked and cranky. Every day people break bones, sprain ankles, get diagnosed with pneumonia, chicken pox, get their hip replaced and many other ailments that require people “staying put” for a week or three. So what’s the best way to move past being mad or irritated or depressed during a period of injury or illness? Step one. Accept the current reality of the situation. Step two? Reframe the situation—For example if you are ‘bummed out’ you can’t play tennis for three months, think ‘now an opportunity to read those books I’ve been wanting to read’ or to ‘learn to cook those four dishes that I’ve just haven’t gotten around to...’ Truth is there’s lots that can be done during this ‘down time,’ so think ‘Crisis as Opportunity.’ …see more

Just to clarify, these are not my organs but my heart rate! I got early access to Virtuali-Tee's new heart rate tracker feature. It visualises your own heart rate in augmented reality through the app. It will be a fantastic addition to science lessons bringing a fun new dimension to learning about the heart and circulatory system. My phone's LED got a bit hot during the process but the visualization is excellent as usual! I gave them this feedback and they immediately responded to solve the issue. The app uses your phone's camera to measure the amount of light passing through your fingertip and detects tiny changes as blood passes through to calculate heart rate accordingly. It's being released on the App Store and Google Play on Monday 23rd July. https://lnkd.in/eq_6nEA #digitalhealth #meded #education #ar #augmentedreality …see more

In 1980 I visited President Jimmy Carter in the White House. I was obsessed with politics. With the people who worked so hard to be “governor” or “Senator” or “president”. I think it was because I was insecure. I didn’t want to be just me. I wanted people to like me, to maybe even VOTE for me. At age 12. When my friends were starting to hold hands with girls and feel that first unusual stirrings of romance, I would go home every day and call Senators and Governors and Presidential candidates for hours. I would write letters to them, maybe 50 letters a day, and steal the stamps from my parents. . . . . #lifestyle #politics #democrate #entrepreneur #writing …see more
