At this rate, by 2025 Apple will be a privacy company that just happens to make electronic devices, software and services.
In the USA, the more vital an industry is, the more screwed up and less digitally transformed it is. Healthcare, Property to live in, Education. Key things for life all entirely unchanged, messed up, untransparent, sneaky, inefficient. And then after that we have Car sales. This can’t be accidental. …see more

Just finished an incredibly inspiring interview with Dr. Joycelyn Elders, the first #AfricanAmerican United States #SurgeonGeneral and only the second woman to occupy that position. It’s for my next #MsMagazine feature about the women chosen for President-elect Biden's Cabinet. At 86, Dr. Elders still does at least one Zoom engagement each week, but says she's definitely earned her retirement! The privilege of speaking with someone who's weathered the storm of Cabinet-level politics and came out with her head held high was extraordinary. Dr. Elders is yet another example for me of strength, courage and speaking truth to power. I'm convinced the women of the #BidenAdministration , led by our new Vice President #KamalaHarris , will have a significant impact on the nation's consciousness. #BidenHarris2020 #womenleaders #womensleadership #globalhealth #womeninpolitics #womeninpower …see more
I just made a donation to the Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) in honor of the indomitable Susan Linnee, former Madrid and Nairobi bureau chief for The Associated Press + esteemed advisor for the Nation Media Group 's DAILY NATION newspaper in Nairobi, who made her transition on Nov. 6th. There's still time to make a Giving Tuesday pledge that will help more women benefit as I have from JAWS mentoring. It has definitely shaped my career, and adorned my life with some amazing role models and friends. Price is what you pay, value is what you get - a popular saying. If you're still unsure of the difference, my explanation tends to be - Price is fact, value is opinion. I've worked at companies where annual rewards letters were literally black/white one pagers with nothing more than "Hello $REPLACEABLE_COG <barf spread sheet>". Seeing my PayPal rewards letter, I am very grateful for the nice template, compensation recap, breakdown, explanation of pay, yearly message from Dan, and thank you from my boss. A lot of thought and work from actual humans went into the template to make the rewards letter easy for our employees to understand, to provide explanation and resources, and to personalize the message as much as possible with gratitude and empathy. Words, kindness, empathy and personalization MATTER - especially in a time of virtual work when folks are not personally connected. These are the little things that say "we care". And for that, I'm proud of PayPal and the folks that worked on this to make Rewards a great experience for us. Thank you. …see more
In the five years I spent researching and writing Indistractable, the most important thing I’ve learned is this 👇 The antidote to impulsiveness is forethought. Procrastination and distraction are things that happen in the moments but we later regret. So, how do we fix that? Our species has an incredible ability to do something that no other creature on the face of the earth can. We can see the future with greater fidelity than any other animal. We can predict what’s going to happen better than any other species. This means we can use our predictions of the future to plan ahead. The key to living with integrity is not to rely on self-control or willpower but rather to have a system in place so that when we are tempted toward distraction we have a plan in place! What are some ways you plan ahead to prevent distraction? #Indistactable #Planning #BehaviorChange …see more
Psychologists tell us that loneliness is as detrimental to our health as smoking or obesity. It is crucial to our mental and physical health that we maintain meaningful relationships with the people we care about. But how can we have healthy relationships if we’re always on our devices, scrolling through our newsfeeds, and responding to an endless stream of external triggers? There is no compromise here. We must be fully present with the people we care about. This is exactly why I consider the ability to manage distractions the skill of the century. All of us must make a choice: Will we allow our attention to be manipulated by outside factors or will become indistractable and in control of our own lives? #Indistractable #Control #Relationships #Health #Longevity #Productivity …see more
I wear a lot of hats. I’m a Consultant, Speaker, and Author. Above all else, I’m a Dad. I remember when my daughter was much younger, some of her first words were “iPad time, iPad time!” and I know this is a struggle a lot of parents have. If you think the world is a distracting place today, just wait a few years, it’s only going to get more distracting. During a recent conversation with polymath Rob Roseman on the Dad the Best I Can show, we discussed how to raise indistractable kids. We covered topics like: - Why becoming indistractable will be the skill of the century - How to talk with your kids about technology - Why self-compassion is so important for Dads Give the episode a listen at the link in the comments below and tag a parent who you think should listen too. Coronavirus tensions are high, patience is thin, and everyone is feeling a combination of fear, anger, resentment, and sadness. Along with that negative melange of emotions, you might also be one of the few feeling something you’re not comfortable talking about: guilt. If you’re employed, able to work from home (and enjoying it), healthy, or your company is having its best year ever, you’ve likely made a conscious effort to conceal or diminish it. Here’s how to tackle the secret guilt you’re feeling: Acknowledge it You’re allowed to feel what you feel, even if it’s two opposing emotions simultaneously—you can feel both good and bad about doing well in this crisis. Adjust your mindset If you’re someone who has found bright spots among the chaos, you’re among the fortunate few who can make a positive impact by helping keep the economy flowing and giving others hope that their current reality is temporary. Do something for others Along with practicing greater empathy and compassion with others, go out of your way to give back. Share your wisdom, offer to make connections, actively refer business to your peers and competitors, and support local businesses with your wallet and word-of-mouth. #Coronavirus #guilt #success …see more
If there’s one thing I aspire to do, it’s to provide clarity over chaos. Whether in my work with leaders, helping them craft their stories and messages to be concise and compelling, or in my own content, I know the value of clear communication. Clarity simplifies the complex and facilitates greater understanding; chaos breeds confusion. In these unprecedented times, it’s easy to default to fear-based thinking and reactionary behaviors. There is so much information (and misinformation) swirling around, competing for our attention. Resist the temptation to add to it. Instead, be a voice of reason, a beacon of hope, and a trusted resource. Choose your words carefully and with intention, and vow to use them for good. Now more than ever, we need leaders who choose clarity over chaos. (Hint: we’re all leaders.) #leadership #career #communication #LightUpLinkedIn …see more
Does anyone know of any content management systems or analytics programs for personal LinkedIn use? The platform is so limiting in terms of planning and executing content campaigns. I found that there is a huge increase in content on LinkedIn lately. I'm curious to know if there are some efficiency tricks circulating in the LinkedIn community.
