2 Million users engaged with Fitbit's Female Health within the first month of launch! That's pretty amazing! So proud of Fitbit and our teams who made Versa & Female Health possible. Launching Female Health category was one of the most exciting (and possibly most challenging) work my team did at Fitbit. Women's health, menstruation, fertility, and pregnancy are not the easiest topics to discuss day in day out in the executive meetings and with the male and female colleagues. I'm glad we did all of those and got the support needed internally to build something high value for our customers who really wanted the information about their cycles to be part of their overall health and wellness picture. Big congratulations to two members of my team Chun Pan , who seeded this project, and to Allison Wu , who laid out the vision and made it happen. #femalehealth #productsuccess #healthandwellness …see more
Western medicine or Eastern medicine? Why do some of us trust an aspirin more than acupuncture to treat a headache or to control pain or to minimize nausea? Why choose a pharmaceutical over a biologic? Especially when there is hard science to show that acupuncture (say) is as effective? I was on a long bus ride recently and a passenger got very nauseous. Another passenger was a practitioner of acupuncture and “treated” the “patient” while we were on the road! Talk about an ‘alternative delivery vehicle!’ And yes, the passenger felt better. #acupuncture #altmedicine …see more
Albert-Laszlo Barabasi shared with us how network science contributes to the fight against COVID-19. The first remarkable achievement of his research lab was compiling a list of promising drugs to treat the virus within less than 10 days. Even The Medical Futurist team was surprised to learn about the extent of network medicine's power, I hope you can learn from it too! #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #COVID19 #COVID_19 #coronavirus #networks #networkscience #networkmedicine #BarabasiLab …see more
Re below and, importantly, with absolutely no disrespect whatsoever for Elliott Management, it's increasingly as if you are a nobody in investment management unless you have SPACs. I wonder if this will prove yet another one of those innovations that goes way too far initially in terms of both over-production and over-consumption. #markets #spacs #investment #economy #investing #investors …see more

Here’s another once-unthinkable chart -- this one from BBC News for UK growth this quarter. It’s not just the levels ... not seen since the Great Depression, but also the range of uncertainty. Point of all these charts: important to be humble about our ability to quickly internalize what all this means, as well as predict well what’s still ahead. #economy #uk #bbc #coronavirus …see more

Do a time audit to examine how and where you allocate your time. When time is your greatest resource, you want to be absolutely sure you’re putting it to the absolute best use. Here’s how to do your time audit: open your calendar, look at your commitments and meetings, and ask yourself these questions: How does this time spent align to a goal or strategy? Is there time for me? Is there any open space for thinking and reflecting? If I handed my calendar to someone outside of my organization, could they tell why I was hired and what I’m supposed to do? Have you ever done a time audit? What did you learn? …see more

Three years ago, I launched my podcast about #writing, Write With Impact. One of my very first guests to actually say "yes" to my invitation was Isabelle Roughol , Director and Senior Managing Editor, International, at LinkedIn. When we recorded this, Isabelle was enjoying her time in Sydney, setting up their editorial operations there. While the LinkedIn community has mushroomed to over half a billion souls and millions of posts since then, the advice she shared with me then about writing on LinkedIn is still very much applicable today... (and yes, that really was Isabelle's LinkedIn profile photo back then!) …see more
There should be a long German word for feeling like you know somebody intimately that you've never met. ( the effect of reading people's tweets / updates but having never met )
So much of our future is limited by the fact the world is constructed on the foundations of the past. It’s not just the commonly discussed things like COBOL code in banking, it’s that every aspect of life is based on industrial revolution style thinking. Education is about compliance and conformity, Health insurance comes from an employer, we are taxed based on the idea we create value in a place. The world assumes you have one residence, it assumes you retire when you body becomes to weak for manual labor. It’s all so bafflingly archaic, limiting and rarely discussed. …see more
There is such a strange phenomena on Twitter at the moment where some people seem to have a strategy of just posting the most shocking, depressing & hopeless stories they can find. All day. Every day. Oh to be someone what wakes up to post about fires in Chernobyl, then "Murder Hornets are coming", then "new reports of baffling sickness in kids", then "New York paralyzed under freak snow in May", they get to post about the horrors of people who are working, the horrors of those who are not, The shocking threat of food supplies under threat, and the horror of working in food processing plants. They post unemployment figures shooting up as a graphs overlaid with sad music, then post the awful videos of terrible people who want to open up their State. They post the claims that stores won't be coming back soon, the reports of sad empty flights showing airlines won't make it, and the awful flights that are too crowded. They share that super spreaders are everywhere, that contact testing is the only way ahead, and then post that Government's are taking away our freedom & moan that some testing centers are empty and its wasteful. Then they tweet their cheer for healthcare workers at 7pm, because we need hope & "we're in this together" Why do people need to behave this way? …see more
