Something about his cheerful, positive attitude made administrators believe he could fill in for a departing surgery technician. Mubarak kept observing, kept taking training courses. Kept exceeding expectations. He’s now chief anesthetist at Edna Adan. And last week, Mubarak got reacquainted with the son of the first pregnant woman he administered an epidural to. The smile alone captures his whole story. Finally, I’ve been a huge fan of Lonnae O’Neal, who writes for ESPN ’s The Undefeated,” ever since she was a columnist at The Washington Post . I am delighted to be associated with this gender diversity initiative by the CFA Institute India to create awareness about, instil interest in and enable women, from ANY educational background, to view the investment management industry as a viable long-term career option. I didn't get a chance to attend college, having to complete my BA in English Literature and Economics by correspondence. I was interested in finance enough to join a part time Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investments course in Australia, where I proceeded to walk up to a lot of the lecturers and grill them about career options. After two years of study and asking questions, I finally got my first paying job in the industry. I hear more and more about Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) while learning about artificial intelligence but I haven't been able to comprehend it properly. Now I just heard a good analogue and I thought I would share it with you. There is a painter who wants to create better and better fake Picasso paintings and a policeman who wants to spot these fakes with an increasing efficiency. What happens is that the painter keeps getting better at making fakes, while the policeman keeps getting better at detecting those. The two models keep trying to beat each other and after many iterations, the painter creates images indistinguishable from a real Picasso. This was the goal of the whole GAN.
