I must admit, I haven’t always lived with personal integrity. I’d promise to eat right...then I wouldn’t. I’d promise myself that I’d exercise regularly...then I wouldn’t. I’d promise to work on that big project...then I’d procrastinate. The items on my to-do list would always just move to the next day, I’d never accomplish everything I set out to do.It was a horrible feeling. The problem is not that we don’t know what to do. Any of us can pull out our phones and find answers for how to lose weight, live healthily, or be more productive at work. The problem is that we don’t know how to stop getting distracted. This is why becoming indistractable is the skill of the century. Becoming indistractable allows us to complete the things we set out to do and live up to our values. Just as the human body requires three macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fat) to run properly, the human psyche needs three things to flourish: autonomy, competence, and relatedness. When kids are not getting the psychological nutrients they need, they may turn to unhealthy behaviors such as spending too much time in front of screens. When it comes to raising indistractable children, ensuring they have enough autonomy, competence, and relatedness is key. How do you make sure your children have enough psychological nutrients? #Indistractable #Psychology #Health #Behavior #Autonomy …see more
We’re in a transition period. Right now, we’re surrounded by technology that is more complex and more engaging than ever and haven’t quite learned how to handle it. This is why we must adapt and adopt -- adapt our behaviors to deal with the onslaught of potential distractions while adopting a new generation of technology to help fix the problems associated with the last generation of technology. As a species, this is what we’ve always done. In this episode of The Rebound Talks podcast, I talked to Antonio Colmenares about how we can ensure that we’re getting the best of technology instead of it getting the best of us. I’ve included a link to the episode in the comments section below! What are some ways you’ve adapted to this new wave of technology? #Indistractable #Technology #Adaptation #BehaviorChange …see more
The most effective way to make time for traction is through timeboxing. The goal is to eliminate all white space in your calendar so you’re left with a template for how you intend to spend your time each day. A common concern around this technique is: “What happens if my plans get derailed?” In the clip below, I discuss how we can use timeboxing, adjust to the unexpected occurrences of daily life, and still practice traction. Do you use timeboxing? If so, how has it benefited you? …see more
There’s a lot of scare-mongering around technology at the moment, particularly from people who want to sell clicks and thrive on economics of fear. However, the truth is this: there is no mind control. Our brains aren’t being hijacked. We need to put the microscope on ourselves when examining this issue. We go to great lengths to avoid sitting alone with our thoughts or dealing with internal discomfort. If we want to avoid distraction, we can’t just throw our phones away or go on a digital detox; we need to deal with the psychological reasons we’re looking for distraction in the first place. Check out my recent feature in Guardian News & Media UK at the link in the comments on this topic. After reading, please be sure to share your thoughts below! #Indistractable #Tech #GuardianUK #HumanBehavior …see more
The only thing that made her more uncomfortable than asking for help was feeling unsafe. So when she left a toxic relationship at 19, haunted by habitual harassment regardless of the active restraining order, she needed help. Tortured by fear and paranoia, she approached her boss and requested to leave work in a large group every late evening. She’ll never know if she neglected to emphasize the severity of the situation or if her boss simply lost track of the request among the long list of responsibilities, but nothing was done… Until one late night on her way to her car she was forced to listen to what the dangerous sociopath wanted to say. When she woke up the next morning, black and blue splotches painted her arms and scabs formed over her knees from fighting him off. Exhausted and humiliated, she never returned to work. 1 in 4 women will be victims of severe violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime and work is often an escape... A SAFE ZONE. PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR: If one of your employees EVER requests support or displays signs of anxiety, TALK TO THEM. ❤ Listen to them. ❤ Provide the help they need. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #Leadership #EffectiveLeadership #Inclusion #Empathy #ChantelShares …see more

"Sorry mate, I can't promote your condom" A company approached me and asked me to promote his condom business. I replied back - "it doesn't align with my branding, but I appreciate the offer". Here's the thing - if he was familiar or follow my content, he would know that I like fried chicken and I'm a geek. -- When it comes to personal branding, it's definitely about integrity and aligning your values with your brand. A good brand has a strong trust factor. To build trust online, it's not hard, it's about creating consistent content that reinforces your positioning. One of the reasons why I been able to gain roles as a brand creator is that I understand how and where I fit in the world, and what value I can bring to the table. I made many mistakes in the last 4 years but I learnt a lot. Which inspired me to re-consider about how I can help coaches and experts build their brand. One that enables higher accountability and action. Each month we focus on creating outcomes. In the 2nd chapter of the playbook, we break down what marketing assets you required to build a consistent brand. This is the surprise of the year for me. I wouldn't have thought I would use (and need) a CO2 monitor daily. These days, when the A/C is on quite often, this device makes me realize that my concentration slips not because of the heat, but because the room lacks fresh air. When the CO2 concentration is above 1000 ppm, it enters the yellow zone, which is not critical, but I realize it's already too high for me. So, whenever you are feeling drowsy at work, open the window first before turning up the air-con! You might just need some fresh air - no matter how hot it is. We even wrote about this issue, including the device I tried, check it out: https://lnkd.in/eBtqe8b #DigitalHealth #AirQuality #AirQualityMonitor #CO2Monitor #OpenTheWindow …see more
