Ask me anything about personal branding, community, life, etc. I have some down time before my next meeting
Your first video … I’m not going to lie, something amazing will happen. The truth is your first video won’t make you a movie star. Instead, a sense of accomplishment will be unlocked. Just like how you did your first speaking gig to share your knowledge. The first video you upload on LinkedIn will have that feeling too. Want to see my first LinkedIn video? It was done on my iPhone. Super low-fi. Authentic. It’s about 6 minutes long. You don’t need to have a 6-minute long video. A short 2-minute will be ace. That’s the secret sweet spot for an engaging video on LinkedIn. Your first video should be something interesting like: 🍗 How yum fried chicken is (I’ll come and watch, I love fried chicken) 🍗 ‘3 top tips’ video about a topic you’re passionate about 🍗 Or an intro, say hi and introduce yourself. Use your smartphone. It’s a great starting tool to create your videos. And if you don’t want to do this alone. I got you! I have an upcoming Mobile Video Masterclass. 🍗 It’s to help you maintain authenticity. 🍗 Provide a framework to be awesome on video. 🍗 Be a communicator (not a movie star) 🍗 and become the trusted voice in your industry. Sounds good to you? Drop a fried chicken in the comments and I send you a link. #stringtheory on #personalbranding …see more

According to some estimates, the global digital health market is expected to exceed $504.4 billion by 2025; which is nearly a six-fold increase from its 2018 valuation. However, keeping track of the numerous startups that branch into digital health is hard. And keeping track of the promising companies in the digital health field as a whole is even harder. So I decided to compile the 100 most promising digital health companies in an easy-to-understand infographic. Check it out! Lots of focus in recent days on charts of market-weighted versus equal-weighted indices to illustrate the concentration of gains in the US stock market. This is a good addition from CNBC's Michael Santoli comparing Apple and Microsoft to the S&P 500 ex-tech. #stocks #markets CNBC …see more
The Financial Times on the banking system in Lebanon. It was right at the center of the "financial engineering" that both allowed Lebanon to live well beyond its means and also enriched privileged segments of society. Now it's at the center of a huge economic and financial mess that's hitting particularly hard the more vulnerable segments. https://lnkd.in/gMrbf2C #lebanon #economy #markets #banks #banking …see more
US equity market indices ended the day mixed as the Dow and the S&P lost ground and the NASDAQ closed flat. Today's volatile session encapsulated well the variables that have delivered the stalemate of the last three days -- particularly between policy support and uncertain fundamentals. Specifically, today's gains (due to supportive policy news) gave way to health-related economic worries highlighted by Apple’s decision to re-close stores in two states. #economy #markets #stocks #cnbc CNBC …see more
As highlighted by the significant out-performance of the Dow (a gain today of over 2% compared to 1.2% for the S&P and just 0.2% for the NASDAQ), it was a session for lagging stocks today. While seemingly disappointing for some,it would be a healthy market rotation if sustained. #stocks #markets #investing #stockmarket #nasdaq #dow #equities #economy #investmentmanagement …see more
Re the US jobless claims numbers: -The absolute numbers remain horrible/worrisome: 3 million new claims in a week, 7-week total of 33 mm, and 23 mm in continuous claims. -The rate of labor force dislocation is moderating. Re implications: -The (urgent and important) policy needs to continue to include the horrible absolute numbers and the continuing deterioration (first derivative). -Markets are embracing the positive second derivative. Key questions: -When does the aggregate number stabilize? -How quickly do the unemployed get jobs? -How many drop out of the labor force? -What happens to hourly earnings? #earnings #joblessclaims #jobs #unemployment #employment #wages …see more

College student Jayson Gonzalez stumbled across an unexpected business opportunity earlier this year: Minnesota residents who desperately wanted Krispy Kreme doughnuts despite the fact that there weren't any stores nearby. So desperate, in fact, that they were willing to pay about double the retail price for a box of a dozen. So, Gonzalez started making weekly drives about four hours each way, in order to satisfy the need. He would buy around a hundred boxes of a dozen doughnuts each to resell on the way back. You would think Krispy Kreme would applaud Gonzalez's spirit of entrepreneurship, not to mention the fact that they were selling an additional 1,200 donuts every week to customers outside its normal area of operation. Instead, Krispy Kreme contacted Gonzalez and told him to shut down. What followed was a major lesson in entrepreneurship, listening to your customers, and emotional intelligence.
