Distraction is a symptom of a problem – not the problem itself. Here's what I mean 👇 The deeper and systemic reasons for distraction – such as an inability to cope with fear, anxiety, or stress – deserve our concern, because it’s only when we start to address them that we can make real progress. When we begin to understand what we’re trying to avoid by clicking over to Twitter or checking the news for the 10th time today, we can begin to address the issue itself! We also begin to appreciate how habitual the act of avoiding discomfort via distraction can be. Here's the good news: There’s something paradoxical about discomfort. It’s actually the best tool we have for evolving and developing as a species. Writing in 2001, the American psychologist Roy Baumeister and his colleagues observed: “If satisfaction and pleasure were permanent, there might be little incentive to continue seeking further benefits or advances.” If discomfort didn’t spur us to action, we’d never do anything. How have you managed distraction recently? #Indistractable #Psychology #Behavior #SelfImprovement …see more
You can’t call something a “distraction” if you don’t know what it distracted you from. Research shows that if you decide what it is you want to do when you want to do it, you become far more likely to actually follow through. We live in a day and age where if YOU don't plan your day, somebody else will. When you remove white space in your calendar, you’re left with a template for how you intend to spend your time each day. #Indistractable #Intentionality #Planning #Productivity #Mindset …see more
I’m for full legalization marijuana; remove it from the Federal Controlled Substance List. I would go a step further and pardon everyone who’s in jail for a low-level, non-violent drug offense, because it makes no sense to me to have people behind bars for something that is legal in parts of the country. …see more

I owe my life to the professionals behind life sciences that created the chemotherapy treatment that pushed me into remission. I received over $200k in treatment for FREE thanks to the pharma-support communities that value life over profit. One thing that many people don't know is the support programs that offer co-pay assistance to warriors of chronic illness and incurable disease. Something I wouldn't have had the option of securing without the assistance provided by "Big Pharma" ❤ This is why I'm so excited to speak in front of the Women in Biohealth of Madison, Wisconsin about the importance of authenticity as we celebrate their efforts in their career so far... I certainly hope that you can attend and join us for this event as we celebrate the professionals in biohealth for their dedication to finding cures for ailments. From one warrior to another, the future is going to be an incredible place for our children with scientists that have a hunger for discovery, dedicated to a healthier future. Thank you for your efforts. How has your life been impacted by professionals in healthcare and biology? #biohealth #science #health #chantelshares …see more

During this exceptional times that we are dealing with COVID-19 and the whole world is focused on "one purpose" which is to #flattenthecurve , I was reminded of the famous poem from a renown Persian poet, Saadi Shirazi, describing that we as humans, are all part of one entity and things like #coronavirus proves that if one of us goes to unease, we all will feel the pain. Finally, the results of Verily's Project Baseline Health Study are out! The study's original purpose was to build the world's most comprehensive omics database of people and their medical conditions to discover new insights, create new hypotheses about how these different systems are interrelated and lead to developing diseases. They collected almost every kind of health parameters, vital signs, physical examinations, and biomarkers. From radiology imaging to pregnancy tests, from psychological evaluations to data from sleep and fitness sensors several times over the course of the study. While going through the details of how they designed the data collection process, how they will make the data available to researchers worldwide, and what they expect from these, I could only think of artificial intelligence. No human being will be able to oversee that much data, that many layers and systems. This is the future of healthcare research, and we will be doomed without A.I. And, it's a brilliant example of why you should stay in the loop with A.I.'s capabilities in healthcare! The appearance of artificial intelligence and technology in psychiatry isn't as scary as it sounds first - it's not likely that robots will replace therapists. Of course, not, I get it, technology is evil. I'll just wait until a symptom arises (if I feel it that way) or until a doctor catches something at a regular check-up that had been in the making in my body for months or years. Sure. #digitalhealth #health #healthcare …see more
Factoid via Bloomberg Television: The yield on 10-year US government bonds is the same this morning as on March 23, the low for the S&P.
