Voluntary attention is the attention we have direct control over. Strengthen your voluntary attention in order to improve your focus and your ability to proactively complete your work. To do this cultivate awareness by asking yourself: Did you find it more difficult to focus right before lunch time or dinner time? Was it difficult to focus after a long meeting or a difficult conversation with a family member? Was it easier to focus after a walk or a workout at the gym? Were there specific time periods during your day that it was easier to focus? Were there specific projects or types of tasks that you were able to focus on for longer periods? All I want for Christmas are work places where everyone can contribute and collaborate without fear of harassment, bullying or injustice. This one's been on the list for far too long, Santa.
You get the feeling public policy these days isn’t set by politicians with logic or principles or least of all a VISION, but as a series of test and learns. You create some policies, leak them to the press, see how they report them on social media and see what the population thinks of them, then tweak accordingly. You enact these policies and change things as they go based on how the masses feel about them and what drives popularity. It’s a bizzare state of affairs. Rewards only shortermism in an era of simplistic media narratives. I’m totally fine with changes as facts change, the way U turns are reported as such in the press is awful. But doing them based on whims of popularity is a big new problem in a world of immediate social media feedback …see more

It was wonderful having the opportunity to speak to a room of #brands #marketing to women today, and to learn from #leaders like Marci Grebstein CMO of JC Penny who shared an important sentiment: #trust is not a commodity that can be bought or sold. Thank you to Chief Marketer Magazine! …see more

Marketing has undergone massive changes over the years, and I get a lot of questions about what marketers should be doing to keep up. Questions like... 🤔 which platforms should I be on? 🤔 how do I grow my subscriber list? 🤔 should I have a newsletter? 🤔 how often should I post content? 🤔 how do I measure digital marketing ROI? Find the answers to these - and more - on my blog! #digitalmarketing #socialmediamarketing #contentstrategy …see more
AI has disrupted nearly every aspect of business, and #marketing is no stranger to it. AI may be new, but it's already making waves in the marketing world - AI-powered #marketingcampaigns achieve 3xthe revenue, relative to their use in the marketing mix, and a 3.1x – 7.2x lift in #customerengagement , while continuously improving campaign performance. I've spent the last 12 hours fighting back tears after learning of legendary former New York Times journalist Betsy Wade's passing. I was almost too afraid to speak to Betsy when we met at the Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) Fall Camp back in 1992. I was a feature writer at the Detroit Free Press, and had reached what I would have gladly accepted as the pinnacle of my journalism career. Meeting the first woman editor at @The New York Times and the lead plaintiff of a historic #genderdiscrimination lawsuit against that newspaper, left me in awe. But Betsy quickly brushed aside all of my star gazing. From that moment on, she treated me like a colleague and a friend. Betsy and so many other wonderful #womenjournalists I've met through the mentoring, networking and sisterhood of #JAWS forced me to think bigger about my life and career. I'm forever grateful. Rest well, dear Betsy. The world will never see your equal again. #womenleaders …see more

savor the irony with me for a second. McKinsey is opening a retail store in a giant mall to learn about retail in the digital age. next they will open a bank on Main Street to learn about banking in the digital age.
