The remarkable rise of #Bitcoin during #COVID19 - is it a hedge against #government #debt #inflation risk?
DAILY UPDATE #COVID19 - #Germany making gains re #FlattenTheCurve while the #US position is converging on Germany. Let's do all we can to get the US to follow Germany this week
Re #COVID19 "bending the curve", according to Worldometer, America is now tracking #Italy not #SouthKorea re new cases (CDC data have not been updated for a couple of days). Very troubling
I really think the right #CoronavirusOutbreak comparisons for America are #Italy and #SouthKorea . These data on #coronavirustest show the 2 paths that could happen if/as the US dramatically increasing testing.
More people use #fintech services in emerging markets, led by #China and #India , than in the west. Another #tech example where legacy systems get in the way of #innovation ?
New Yorker humor - Hamlet in New York, with a little existential philosophy thrown in. Great article in the New York Times on Mankoff http://nyti.ms/2mfoMMF
Retail sales plummeted in April, and I do mean "plummeted." Sales fell 16.4% from a month earlier, which is twice as big as the drop in March -- and March was the biggest drop on record. The numbers on some of the individual categories are even more eye-popping: Restaurant sales are down by half in the past two months. Furniture-store sales are down by two-thirds. Clothing-store sales are down by nearly 90 percent. April might be the bottom for retail. Some states have begun to reopen, and we're already seeing early signs of an increase in sales. But don't expect the rebound to be anywhere as fast as the drop. A few viral photos notwithstanding, there's not much evidence that shoppers are eager to pack back into stores again. And for millions of newly unemployed workers, shopping is a luxury they can't afford right now anyway. What does this mean for the future of retail? Which brands will survive? And what will all this mean for the broader economy? Sapna Maheshwari and I dug into those questions in today's New York Times. Check it out. #economy #retail #coronavirus …see more

The collective financial services and payments communities were taken aback last week when #Google confirmed it would partner with Citi (and Stanford Federal Credit Union ) to launch a “smart” DDA next year. The checking account may not be the only “smart” thing about the tie-up — and could signal an even more disruptive play with them down the road. Here’s what that is, and what must happen for any of it to work according to plan. …see more

I am always amazed and grateful for the generosity and care for us by our customers. I know we make an impact. But you get caught up in the day to day and it isn't until you ask for help and they respond with all their heart, knowledge, and VIP responses. That you think, wow I'm so lucky to have the best customers. They always say how good we are to them, they want to help us. Whether it be from a customer who does pest control and makes sure the wasps get out of your office that day, the real estate professional who explains the market on the sale of your dead relatives house or the VC who walks thru how term sheets work, from the other side of the table as you help your client. Not to mention when unexpected loss comes and they reach out with calls, notes, emails, and flowers. #whatdidIdotodeservethebestcustomersintheworld #grateful #radicalcpa #peopledobusinesswithpeople …see more

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? For me, it’d be the power to do what I say I will do. 👆 This feeling led me to write my book, Indistractable. I’d tell myself that I would: • Spend time with my family 👪 • Eat healthily 🥗 • Work on that big project 💻 ...then I wouldn’t. I kept getting distracted! Maybe flying through the air like Superman is cool, but that’s never going to happen. Instead, I chose the word “Indistractable” because it sounds like “Indestructible.” It’s also a superpower. I recently appeared on the Building a StoryBrand Podcast with Donald Miller where I discussed: • My personal experiences with distractions (and how I’ve overcome them) • How to discuss distraction in the workplace • Why to-do lists are destroying your productivity • And more! I’ve included a link in the comments section! If you could pick any superpower, what would it be? #Indistractable #Productivity #Growth #Achievement …see more
