A recent study found a link between detecting EEG and predicting which treatment would work better for patients dealing with depression. This was obviously made possible using an algorithm based on artificial intelligence. It would be great to learn about such unusual relations between data sets and health features. I need your help. Have you come across any strange association between a biomarker we can measure and an unexpected outcome or feature that was made possible because of A.I.? #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #AI #artificialintelligence #deeplearning #machinelearning …see more
I recently shared that because of my high genetic risk for skin cancer, I get regular check-ups by a dermatologist, plus I also re-check the risky spots once a month with SkinVision . You cannot imagine the flow of negative comments I received after that. A week later, a review concluded that current algorithm-based smartphone apps cannot be relied on to detect all cases of melanoma or other skin cancers. Exactly! This is why I don't only rely on them. I use them to re-check spots. I also asked Skinvision to comment on the study and got this from Erik de Heus, CEO, SkinVision. "The latest research, not included in the authors' overall assessment, proves that our algorithm can detect 95% of cases of skin cancer. In comparison, the sensitivity of general practitioners ranges from 61% and 66%, while the sensitivity of dermatologists is between 75% and 92%. SkinVision has assisted in finding over 40,000 cases of skin cancer already. These objective facts prove that the clinical benefits of the service outweigh the risks." Digital health technologies take time to be proven + these technologies only assist current medical procedures. Skinvision could simply win this battle by having a similar study result that was not supported by them. Where do you stand on this? …see more
This prognosis about the future of oncology might sound very far-fetched, but everything we write here is based on slight extrapolations of existing technologies and current trends. They just need some further perfection and general implementation - still, how much better it would be than living with the most feared disease today! How oncology will improve largely depends on how patients and doctors embrace technologies - read about how we can make it come true: #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #oncology #cancer …see more
17.4 million healthcare workers are missing from the system globally. This probably won't improve much within our lifetime. So try to think about communicating with medical chatbots or A.I. reducing your workload as a necessity rather than hype. Are you looking forward to A.I. complementing your work, or you don't think it would be smooth cooperation? …see more

Good morning. US markets' focus remains on policies ahead of notable data releases this week. Key issue facing the Federal Reserve today is how/how far to anchor the QE/"lower for longer" policy paradigm now fully reflected in markets -- this in the midst of the tug of war between weaker economy and buoyant valuations. #economy #markets #Fed #federalreserve #qe #monetarypolicy …see more
