It's a bit embarrassing to hear this! But it's true that the book #Pandemonium : The Great Indian Banking Crisis' is meant for common man. It's a not a banking book -- a book on how India evolved, since economic liberalisation, seen through its banking/financial sector. When a woman you know and wildly respect gets offered a MP position after a #metoo drama (not hers) and she stood up for what’s right. It means things are changing. #radicalcpa #winning #cpafirm #taxseason #accountingfirm #cpa #womansleadership

Had a conversation with my Brother in laws last night.... Guys that I love and trust in various roles and levels of management about the whole glass ceiling/metoo thing... if a guy in a leadership position protects you from an “a$$hole” and acknowledges the bad behavior... just jerky or sexist, not physically inappropriate or illegal. Is that good enough?? My personal opinion is yes because the alternative is not having the opportunity to be exposed to that of level work and the choice is given to the woman as to if she wants to stay or leave. Is it any different than a leader protecting a guy from that same jerk? The world is not perfect and somethings are outside of that persons control. Thoughts? #leadership #radicalcpa #womensleadership #internationalwomenday …see more

What’s the kindest thing someone has done for you? In one of my favorite podcasts, the host asks every guest this question. The most common answers seem to be either their parents/partners’ unconditional support, or someone taking a chance on them without any obvious reason/evidence. I wondered why these were common answers. Are these acts of kindness as common? Or is it that, like many other successful examples, we only see the 0.1pc that made it? How many more successes would we see if there were more acts of kindness? Would they involve a trade-off somewhere else? If not, why aren’t we kinder to one another, taking more chances on one another? Sunday thoughts.... …see more

I've been listening to the Masters of Scale podcast for a while, fascinated by how some entrepreneurs scale so fast. Listening to them put me in even more awe. And then I read the book Blitzscaling. Now on the morning after, I feel I can. I know sometimes people put in a strategy in hindsight...as in they didn't really know what they were doing when they were doing it, but came up with a plan that fit later...but still, the book uses great examples, fleshes out good ideas, lays out the pitfalls. Great read! Thank you #ReidHoffman …see more

Someone asked once me why the folks in my org are more vocal than others when it comes to highlighting when something is wrong from a product, professional or management perspective. My answer was simple: "It's because I teach them it's the right thing to do, and encourage them to be vocal when things don't align with company values or personal/professional expectations." Don't hide things when they're wrong, or ask others to hide them. Speak, respectfully, with facts and data. Someone will either listen or you'll eventually be proven right. Either way, your integrity will remain intact. …see more

When it comes to understanding how humans learn complex behaviors, you have to understand the importance of habits. Habits give us the ability to focus our attention on other things by storing automatic responses in the part of our brain that's associated with involuntary action. Habits are shortcuts. They help us operate and use our energy efficiently. And here's what's especially important about habits 👇 It doesn't take long to form them. Whatever situations we encounter, our brains quickly codify behaviors that solve our problems. This is why habit-forming products can have such a competitive advantage in an ever-crowded marketplace. Habit-forming products create unpromoted engagement. They influence customers to use the product on their own, again and again, without relying on overt calls to action such as ads or promotions to bring them back. In a very short time, habit-forming products can create healthy habits in people’s lives. Do you have any products that have shaped your behavior in a positive way? #Hooked #Engagement #Habits #Psychology #UX #ProductDesign …see more

Email is the curse of the modern worker. A study published in the International Journal of Information Management found office workers took an average of 64 seconds after checking email to reorient themselves and get back to work. Not only is email a source of constant distraction, but research also shows that about half the time we spend on email is an utter waste of time. But email is a tool we have little choice but to use. For most of us, our jobs depend on it and it is so woven into our daily work and personal lives that giving it up would be a threat to our livelihood. This is why whenever I reply to an email, I ask myself, “When’s the latest this person needs to see this reply?” By slowing the conversation down and delaying delivery, we can slow down the email ping-pong game by sending emails well after you write them. Programs like Microsoft Office 365 and Gmail have built in ways to delay a message’s delivery. By clicking just one extra button before sending, the email is off my plate but is held back from being delivered to the recipient until the predetermined time I selected. Fewer emails sent per day results in fewer emails sent back per day. #Indistractable #HackBack #Email #Tech …see more

Distractions can take a toll on even our most intimate relationships; the cost of being able to connect with anyone in the world is that we might not be fully present with the person physically next to us. Learning to deal with our internal triggers, making time for the things you really want to do, removing harmful external triggers, and using precommitments can help you conquer distraction and form tighter bonds with your loved ones. What are some ways you manage distractions in your relationships? #Distraction #Relationships #Bonding #WellBeing …see more

Pitch at me. Actually, I don’t mind pitches. As a startup founder, I’m looking to improve my own pitches. But I get annoyed when people request a connection and quickly pitch me. That’s now how one builds a relationship. Why not be frank about it and let me know what you do and how it would benefit me. I like a win-win situation. I may have a total count of 62k Li followers here. But less than 10% of these numbers have direct access to my inbox. I regularly clean my connections too. Pruning is a cleansing experience for me. I’m a big believer of networks and relationships. Chatting and following each other’s journey and helping each other succeed is how we we can grow together. LinkedIn is a tool to be leveraged. If you like a challenge, go ahead and pitch at me. In the comments below, in your connection requests - but a pitch is your version your value. My friend Mike Vacanti believes we have a leadership crisis fueled by outdated models and flawed beliefs. We can do better. The trick? Opening our hearts to envision a new era of business. Imagine accountable leaders acting as catalysts for inclusive, positive change, continually adapting to the environment, and igniting a passion for personal, team, and organizational growth. In his new book, “Believership,” Mike outlines why a new belief system is the ultimate leadership superpower. 💥 Get your copy today: http://amzn.to/2qx1R6H …see more
