How do we ensure that our kids develop healthy relationships with technology? 👪 Parents tend to fixate on the latest technology craze. So much so that we often forget about older technologies, which can be just as much of a problem! There’s little justification for allowing kids to have a television, laptop, or any other potentially distracting external trigger in their rooms, especially overnight when they can interrupt their sleep. These screens should be kept in communal areas. What are some other ways you've helped your child manage digital distraction? #Indistractable #Parenting #Family #Distraction #Children …see more

I'm excited to announce that SoGal Ventures has joined the $13.6M round for Anomalie - Pro-Bride Wedding Dresses ! We have been following Leslie Voorhees Means since the beginning of 2017, but didn't have a fund in place yet to invest in their seed round. Since we are always passionately investing in things we love and are customers of, my business partner Elizabeth Galbut made 2 wedding dresses with Anomalie, as one of their earliest customers. TechCrunch: "13% of US brides, 275,000 out of 2.1 million, created an Anomalie account in the last year." Average price of a custom wedding gown at Anomalie is $1,400, and now you can visualize your design ideas through the app too. A huge yet broken market + an affordable and high quality approach + a stellar founding team + a viral by nature product + a ton of raving customers = Anomalie! #SoGalBoss #venturecapital #weddingtech #startups #femalefounders …see more

Reducing patient quality of care: Why are we going back in time? Many of us don't have the time (or inclination) to follow every maneuver occurring regarding changes to the ACA. This article talks about a really important aspect of the ACA which is linking physician and hospital payment to quality measures--meaning payment models which rewards better care and outcomes for us, the patients...Rather than linking payment to doctors for simply doing things--regardless of quality or outcomes for us, the patient. As someone who specializes in organization safety and quality of care--and as a patient--these roll-backs concern me....as they should you as well. Selected Excerpt: “Clearly a great big foot has been put on the brake,” said Donald Crane, the chief executive of CAPG, a group of doctors and hospital administrators that, unlike many in the profession, has pushed to tie physician pay to quality measures rather than the old model of fee for service. …see more
