🚀 Go Remote While Building Your Business I’ve been working remote working since 2019, and what I love most about remote work is freedom. Freedom to travel and freedom to do things in my own pace. #remoteworking or “flexible” working has been around for a while now, and the idea of offshoring or outsourcing isn’t new. This way of working and building teams is still considered relatively new. With that comes challenges, such as: 🍗 How can you operate effectively while travelling 🍗 How can you add flexible work to your existing business 🍗 How do you attract and hire great talent remotely? 🍗 What legal things do you need to consider? 🍗 & my topic: how do you build your brand while building your business remotely! Join me and 24 other experts on the upcoming #RemoteBusinessSummit (Nov 18 - 22), as we’ll be tackling these key topic areas: - Launch strategy - Growth strategy - Leadership development - Team recruitment &culture - Tools & Systems I’d love to have you join me. I’ll be giving away an awesome prize (my online course & workshops) to 1 lucky person who watches my talk live. You're thinking about how to stand out from the crowd. You can. You can stand out on LinkedIn. This is particularly important if you're: - Looking for your next job - Marketing yourself as the expert or authority - Attracting clients - Growing an audience - Increasing visibility online Why is this important? With the current climate, we need to make an effort to be different, not to be part of the crowd. To show that you're capable. To show your personality and character. To stand out, you need to brand yourself. How? Tell your origin story. Show yourself on video. Be more visible on LinkedIn by creating content. LinkedIn has brought a lot of opportunities for me. I love to share what I learnt, all you have to do is drop a "fried chicken" or 🍗 I share a personal tip or two. #stringtheory on #personalbranding #linkedinmarketing …see more
It's not hard to stand out on LinkedIn. Think about how you want to brand yourself. Specifically, think about how you want to position yourself. The way you market is actually a series of reinforcement. You reinforce: - your expertise (by your portfolio of work) - your messaging (the way you tell your stories) - your beliefs system (they are your values) - your character (who are you) - your network (whom you build relations with) - your point of difference (your usp) A way to accelerate all this? Be the trusted voice. Have high visibility with strong content development. The ones who win the game on LinkedIn are... The ones who create original content. You can stay silent if you like. Let others take the spotlight. Stay unheard. Stay unseen. Stay in the dark. Or you can step out and take ownership of your expertise. The choice is yours. #stringtheory on #personalbranding …see more
There are 2 ways to go about achieving brand success. The first is the path that everyone takes. This seems easy to start with but becomes incredibly painful as you continue along the journey. Eventually, it becomes crowded because there are many people taking this path. This is the path of creating posts for the sake of it, and not leveraging content to reinforce your positioning. Then there is the harder way. Few people choose to head this way. But it is the path that ultimately leads to success. This is the path of brand building that's sustainable and worthwhile. It's about building a brand that leaves impact and legacy. On LinkedIn, I have noticed where people are... Creating and repeating the same content mistakes... Researching but never taking action... Refusing to invest in oneself and get help. It's an easy path but becomes incredibly painful as you continue. Then, there is the path less taken the path of active action, active coaching, of getting the RIGHT strategies that you help you build a brand. Here are some signs that you are on the correct path: 🍗 creating content that gets likes, comments (and sales) 🍗 growing an audience 🍗 brand deals So which path are you on right now? Easy or hard? #stringtheory on #personalbranding …see more
To not post or post something random? Being super busy. Marketing is likely a low priority for you. You rather spend time with family. You’re busy catering to clients. You’re finding clients. You’re stuck in meetings. But in this covid-age, it’s do or die. Yes, many business have to pivot online. Many have to re-position their expertise to another market. Being online means being able to cultivate attention and attract the relevant audience. Still, how do you create content? If I was in your shoes, this is how I go about it; The way I’ve organise content is based on brand reinforcement and minimal frequency. 1. Which channel? Pick one that has your target market 2. Build a bank of content idea. You can do a brain dump or be #SEO driven. 🍗 pick 3 content pillars or themes that reinforces your brand 3. Block 30-60mins time to plan for the Month (by now you should know how many you should create) Basic maths: 1x per week = 4 posts for the month. 4. Block another time to create This is where batch creating come into play. It’s more attracting about your target market and being on top of mind. Execute these steps. This is one of many steps to helps you become the trusted voice online #stringtheory on #digitalmarketing …see more
What do you think is key to LinkedIn engagement? During this week's LinkedIn Live, I will be sharing what makes a good (and bad) post. A common thing I see is that people treat LinkedIn like twitter, and posting 5x per day. But that doesn't make sense if you have less than 2000 followers. Engagement like commenting is what the LinkedIn Algo-gods want to see. Posting is good. When there's no comments or conversation - that's bad. It shows that you don't have an active audience. Though it’s not our fault distractions exist (as they always have), managing them is our responsibility. Being indistractable means striving to do what you say you will do. Indistractable people are as honest with themselves as they are with others. If you care about your work, your family, and your physical and mental well-being, you must learn how to become indistractable. For those of you who have read Indistractable, what’s been one of the biggest takeaways for you? #Indistractable #Focus #Attention …see more

When it comes to becoming indistractable, you have to resist whataboutism. Too often, after hearing the four steps to becoming indistractable, people respond with a list of reasons why the techniques won’t work for them. What if I work overtime and don’t have time to exercise? What if I don’t have time to cook healthy meals? What if I can’t spend time with my family because I need to finish up a work project? My response: Just try it! Everybody has obligations to their families, themselves, and workplaces that can interrupt plans, but everyone will find a technique or strategy to help them stay focused and live the life they want by reading the book. Whataboutism misses the point of the Indistractable model. The goal isn’t to prescribe rigid tasks. The goal is to decide how you spend your time with intent. Maybe you can’t always unplug from work exactly at 6:00. But what CAN you do to align your time with your values? Being indistractable isn’t about never getting distracted. It’s about learning WHY you got distracted so it doesn’t happen again. I recently had the chance to speak to Armaan Khendry on The Next Move Podcast about the science behind distraction, timeboxing, and the four steps to becoming indistractable. I’ve included a link in the comments section 👇 …see more

Executives often have a fear of missing out, which can make them hasty to implement whatever technology they think is the latest and greatest. However, it’s not so great if the company doesn’t have the basics in place to provide a foundation for that new tech – and if they try to implement everything at once, it can be a recipe for disaster. What are your thoughts?
#Amazon said last week that it would put $800 million into cutting its Prime Member default shipping option from two days to one. Facebook has long admired #WeChat , and the powerful commerce ecosystem that 1 billion Chinese people use every day. It’s been the cornerstone of Messenger’s monetization ambitions since 2014, and now, five years later with #Libra and #Calibra , the global #payments foundation hopes to move its monetization meter in that direction. If #Facebook and #Messenger want so much to be like WeChat, they have a funny way of showing it — since they’re doing the opposite of everything WeChat did to become successful. Here’s why. …see more
