My friend and former McKinsey colleague Dr. jason wang from Stanford explains to the BBC a new study he is conducting with Taiwan to determine the minimum number of days to quarantine upon arrival on an international flight with a view to bringing it down from the current 14 days. To date, Taiwan has never gone under lockdown, schools closed only briefly in February, and confirmed COVID-19 cases are fewer than 500, with fewer than 10 fatalities. #covid19 #economy #taiwan …see more

A lot of the modern world is utterly unprecedented but eminently predictable. We let the fact things have not happened before act like a stronger excuse that it should be. As a person we all live in the past, present and future at the same time but with very different ratios to each other. Companies broadly spend almost all of their time in the past, and zero looking more than 1 year away. Most of the future is impossible to see coming but a lot of what matters is clear to see. …see more
This seems like sensible reporting from the BBC with a range of views, good questions and seemingly accepting the idea of "following the science" isn't simple when science doesn't agree, is developing fast, and thus everything becomes Political. I wish everything in the world didn't have to come down to Political sides, preexisting opinions and wants being reflected in how we decide to interpret data to support agendas, and most of all this obsession with using the past to find blame, not to learn from. This story is going to run and run and I sense the tone will change to become much more accusatory. …see more

Looking back on some of the most challenging times in my career, I realize they were preparing me to thrive during this extraordinarily difficult year. That’s why I’m feeling so grateful and blessed for #Thanksgiving2020 . I’m not focusing on what’s missing. I'm following Melody Beattie ’s advice: "Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity...it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." #gratitude #grateful #blessings …see more
So proud of Melissa Bosworth , one of The Aspen Institute 's 2020 Healthy Communities Fellows I've been supporting during this insane year. Melissa is an Assistant Professor at Regis University in Denver and Executive Director of the Eastern Plains Healthcare Consortium . She's an expert on #healthcare administration and on #ruralhealth . But Melissa is also a mother and a wife who's caring for her own ailing elderly mother during a pandemic --while holding three jobs. Melissa wrote a beautiful "love letter" to #caregivers during the era of #COVID19 , and it's been published by The Denver Post . I'm so pleased to see the Healthy Communities fellows amplify their voices during these tense times, even as they navigate their own complex commitments and obligations. Read Melissa's story below. #cancersupport #caregiving #selfcare …see more
