LinkedIn DMS are like .... You get all sorts... 🤖 Bot like messages that wants to connect for the sake of growing their connections. ☠️ Template like messages that says I’m a perfect fit for a franchise. 🐍 I like the ones who try to sell me their LinkedIn services, it’s like they didn’t real my profile. 🍑 But the best ones is the tinder like messages calling me beautiful and ass’uming I want that kind of attention. If you must know, you don’t woo with sweet words but with🍗. Anyway, don’t be gross. LinkedIn is interesting space... You got the decision makers, the job seekers and thought leaders... But it’s important to be human. Being human means building rapport and adding value. How can you make it a win-win-win situation? A win for you. Win for the other person you’re reaching out. The third win is when you’re adding value to the final stakeholder who would benefit from the partnership. Ok, be less gross on LinkedIn. Gaining clients... which comes first: trust or the sale? I look at that line and we all know the answer... Trust comes first. If you want to gain the sale or client, trust needs to happen. That's why I'm a big believer in personal branding. It's the package of trust. First impression: it's the person and how they introduce themselves. Credibility: are they an expert in their field Character: Are they authentic, do I resonate with their values and personality? Communication: do their content reinforce their personal brand? Fried chicken, 'cos I like it and I use it as a visual brand anchor. 🍗 It's not a random choice, it's me creating a tangible experience. You may forget this key message of this post, but walk past a fried chicken store, you will think of me :P So, what are you doing to gain clients? Networking? You can do that online. LinkedIn makes it possible to have conversations with your prospects. But they won't talk to you if you're a stranger. BNI? It's hard to meet to network now. Everything is moving online. Create 2-3 pieces of content in less than an hour. I share the process of how I: - Drafted and outline a post - Drafted and written a blog post - And create a video (using my smartphone). - And written a LinkedIn post It's not about creating in an efficient time. It's to share the process of how I create. For the last 10 years, I've been creative. Before that, I was the kid who rocked up late to school and almost failed my English classes. The reason I became good is that I created, and kept on creating. The more I created, the more I honed and crafted. The better I became. Now I feel that communication skills have benefited. I can communicate my stories. I can communicate my expertise. Watch the video while you work.... It's more of a chill process of working.
