I've been meaning to grow my YouTube channel for many years now. Tonight, I met a fellow creative Matt Irwin at an e-commerce meet-up. He asked me: "Hey String, I've been following you on YouTube, and how did you get such a calibre lineup of interviews?" I laughed, because 3 years ago, I was on YouTube... but he reminded me that consistency is key. So, I'm going to add his Q and give the full low down on how I interviewed the likes of Gary Vee, SXSW, Crypto founders and more. Still, what would you like to know? Fear. Analysis paralysis. Imposter syndrome. Within us are inner nay-sayers that stops us from being a step closer to our purpose. Still; what does video have to do with it? More like it’s an allows us to communicate and share ourselves, our knowledge and connect with interesting people. Within us is also the years of experience and insights gained through one’s swear, blood and tears. I’ve watch and listened to stories that have inspired me and motivated me. That’s the power of storytelling. Video is an extension of you and your stories. The Trusted Voice initiated the 5-day video challenge. Yesterday, from day 1, we have watched over 22 participants actively giving them the time and space to learn how to be more confident on camera. And build the confidence to do video. Through active guides, scripts and feedback. We are seeing them grow. For some, uploading a video is a first time experience. The hardest part tends to be starting. I look forward to seeing more videos and stories over the next 5 days. #string on #the5dayvideochallenge #motivation #personalbranding #marketing …see more

I’m so excited that Real launched its digital membership yesterday! It’s truly a game-changing product for mental health. Why do people still go to the gym all the time even if they are already fit, but people don’t go to therapy even when they’re not mentally feeling their best? Why are there cheaper group classes in the gym, but only expensive 1:1 sessions in therapy? Real decided to change all of that. At $28/month you can access high quality mental health care in a comfortable, at-your-own-pace setting. I love the possibilities this unlocks. Give it a try if you’re in the US! $1.5 Billion Skilling Australians Fund to be Established The {Australian} Government will establish a new Skilling Australians Fund to ensure that businesses that benefit from employing skilled migrants are also equipping Australians with the skills they need. Employers that sponsor migrants under the new temporary skill shortage visa and certain permanent skilled visas will be required to pay a levy which will provide revenue to the Fund. Through the Skilling Australians Fund, an estimated $1.5 billion will be provided over the first four years to underpin a new partnership with State and Territory Governments to train Australians, with spending prioritised towards apprenticeships and traineeships. The Fund, when matched with State and Territory funding, will support up to 300,000 apprentices, trainees, pre-apprentices and higher level skilled Australians. Something is drastically wrong with college accreditation, both in terms of who is getting and maintaining accreditation and who is losing it. Bennett College was cited for lack of resources; it had an opportunity to raise $$ before the appeal. The goal was $5 million but over $9 million was raised. The accreditor was unimpressed apparently and said: this was not enough. It’s like moving the standard higher when you hit the mark. How does that work? Now consider the for profit college accreditor which was removed by the prior administration for failure to identify quality educational gaps in the institutions it oversaw and playing favorites. Under the current administration, this decision is being reversed. Does anyone see the irony, the inequity, the unfairness to small private non profits? Since when can we reverse decisions or move the goal posts with such ease? I’m worried about small college accreditation. You should too. I am worried about for profit accreditation. You should too. Does the fact that Bennett is an HBCU cut against them? Just asking if big corporate educators can crush small historic places that serve students not shareholders. Someone is up a creek with no paddle — because it was taken while someone else was given a paddle. Hum. …see more
A seriously worthy read on many levels. Do you remember the Woody Allen film where folks are discussing what something meant written by Marshal McCluhan and he appears and says on the side "BS". Please, let's be care about testing; it can be deeply hurtful and non-predictive. …see more
