What’s harder for you: to say “No” or to hear “No?” It's a word I've tried to strike from my vocabulary, and I tend to take it as a challenge when I hear it from someone else. (“What do you mean we can’t do this? I’ll show you!”) And yet, lately I am trying to think of “No” as a tool for making sure I can say “Yes” to the commitments I’ve already made. "No" can also be a source of useful information. When a client or a colleague says "No," that tells me the timing for the idea may be wrong or perhaps I haven't sold it well enough. Sometimes "No" means "Not now" rather than "Never." Sometimes "No" helps us pause and rethink our priorities. You could say I'm trying to say "Yes" to occasionally saying "No." …see more

"I like that a brand wants to celebrate women. But here’s a useful guide to doing so. Employ lots of them. Demand your agencies and suppliers are diverse. Celebrate women for their actual achievements, not just their appearance. Align yourself with causes that benefit women. Continue to show diverse people with diverse figures in your advertising. Pro tip: if you have an employee who is so enthusiastic about their job that they create a social media account that not only makes your brand seem cool but amasses over a million highly engaged followers who are potentially your next pool of customers, maybe don't fire said employee? I'd like to "ask Sherwin-Williams " what they were thinking when they made this decision. Anthony Piloseno started an account on TikTok mixing paint and people were into it. A lot of people. Corporate, however, was not. I don't know all the details but it sounds like corporate found that he had used company equipment and supplies on the clock and that it violated company policies. So that was that. Rather than see the opportunity that laid before them, it seems they just went with the "rules are rules" approach. Even after he made a pitch deck to the company trying to explain the possibilities. Don't get me wrong, if there was something egregious that occurred I get that.
