What was one of the best performing asset classes of 2019? Watches! The big brands were Patek Philippe ROLEX Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin but there is a new kid on the block in the high end watch industry, it's F.P. Journe. Why is he causing such angst amongst collectors? BTW I have no equity ownership in any of these companies I just appreciate the fine art of horology! #Watches #watchcollector #horology #investing …see more

There is only one trick to getting up early: GOING TO SLEEP EARLY! We all feel like we can’t go to sleep early. We might miss something. Often night is the time we can read. Or socialize. Or eat. Or drink. Or watch TV. Well, stop all of those things. ➞ Don’t eat a meal after 5 or 6pm ➞ Don’t watch TV (what’s good on TV anyway?) ➞ Don’t socialize too much (do your friends need to see you every night?). ➞ Don’t drink – its both a depressant and filled with sugar and calories, which will keep you up at night. ➞ Networking at night is ok, but you can’t do it every day. Maybe once a week. The benefits of waking up early are enormous. You are able to focus better. Your day will be filled with success by the time everone is just waking up. You can read more. You can exercise. You can think. You can work and nobody is up to bother you. You can meditate or pray. There’s no temptation to drink or eat a heavy meal. You can see the emptiness of where you live when the sun just peeks out and lights it up. You can feel the freshness of the air. You can take a pad and after you are done reading, you can write down ideas. Here's more... http://ow.ly/6mo930iBzFQ …see more
Congrats to Wicked Good Cupcakes for being selected for Google 's Economic Impact Report. Google picks one business from each of the 50 states to feature!
WRITE TEN IDEAS EVERY DAY AND WITHIN THREE MONTHS YOU WILL HAVE REWIRED YOUR BRAIN My first idea list was the table of contents for a book I wanted to write. The book was going to be called, “How to Beat Your Friends and Family at Every Game in the Universe.” For every game, I’d write three tips that, if you just knew those tips, then you’d beat anyone who was just a casual player. . . #ideas #creative #lifestyle #writing #entreprenurship …see more

We're almost 9 months into this pandemic, and while some things have gotten easier, our stress and anxiety levels are bound to have increased. Thankfully there are experts (and former monks) like Pandit Dasa who know a thing or two about navigating stress and building resilience. His new live online class in my virtual classroom will give you tools (and hope) for living in this new abnormal: https://bit.ly/3lpvPkw …see more
On January 15th 2009, Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, against all odds, landed his US Airways Airbus safely on the Hudson River. How would you have reacted to the sound of the engines shutting down in mid-flight and the captain announcing “brace for impact”? CEO and venture capitalist, Ric Elias, was on that flight. He shared how that near-death experience transformed his views on his business and his life. Listen at apple.co/simonsinek or anywhere you get your podcasts. …see more

This is how I landed my TEDx talk 👇 I didn't focus on TEDx. I became an entrepreneur instead. My first company failed, so did my second, but my third is thriving. Through all of that I documented everything and invested in my personal brand. - I told my story. - Built a community. - Established my own lane. If you're wanting to land things like TEDx, focus on building a brand. Because that's social proof that you will take with you throughout your entire life. I'm not saying you need to quit your job and start a business; rather take the time to invest in your brand and share your story. That's when the magic happens. Companies die. Industries change. But personal brands live forever. #justQ 🖤 …see more
"Imagining A Trillion Dollar Digital India" - https://goo.gl/99RHnf Year 2018 will mark a watershed moment in independent India’s re-ascendance as a major economic power. As per Center for Business & Economic Research, India will, for the first time since the industrial revolution, overtake both UK & France to become the 5th largest economy. The 1st industrial revolution started in late 18th century and 2nd started in early 20th century profoundly transformed western economies. India missed that boat & languished for decades. We are at the tail end of the 3rd industrial revolution and on the cusp of a fourth one. We have seen the disruption the 3rd industrial revolution caused, largely on the back of #Digital #Technology adoption, in industries like retail & media. The upcoming 4th one will disrupt incumbent business models even further. This will be driven by the technologies like #AI, #Robotics, #Blockchain etc. But, Is #India & #Startups ready to catch this new wave? To answer this question, our partners at @ IBM India & we, looked at factors like infrastructure, demographics, consumption patterns, and adoption of digital technologies. The result of this joint effort is our report “Imagining a Trillion Dollar Digital India” - Read it here: https://goo.gl/99RHnf …see more

If you are a high-risk fast-scaling venture-funded company, as a founder you are unlikely to have majority ownership. This never bothered me as a founder, I saw #funding as a necessity to realize my vision. Control is not dependent on shareholding, it is a function of performance, impact and ensuring strong alignment with the board. Bezos started Amazon in 1994 & went public within 3 years. He continued to innovate and create outsized value for 3-decades. His personal net worth, a mere ~$200B! Ownership is Proportional to: (MINIMIZE) Time to Product Market Fit , No of Pivots, Frequency of Fundraise + (MAXIMIZE) #Growth , Capital Efficiency …see more
I have often spoken on the importance of other hobbies and interests, especially when you have a stressful #job , which is really all #startup founders and investors. I was always a city girl, but I have become an avid gardener over the last two decades. I get almost the same thrill when I grow something new as when one of my portfolio companies does well. At the core of both is enjoying the process of nurturing a seed and seeing it bloom. Gardening is an excellent hobby. 1. It reduces stress taking you closer to the roots of nature 2. It teaches you the value of patience and relationships in the most natural way 3. It requires you to problem solve, figure out the root cause, experiment constantly 4. When you get a big crop of produce, you get to #share and give it away Any others who share the passion for gardening? #WeekendMusings …see more
