Work has radically changed. It's time to embrace it. When you equip and empower your employees to adapt and find the tools they need to be effective and efficient it is an investment in your company’s present and future profitability. Recently I worked with the largest independent Coca-Cola distributor in the United States. Their remote sales team worked hard, nights and weekends and rarely took time off. However, sales call volume and sales numbers were down. Morale had plummeted. Paperwork, emails, phone calls, and unmet goals were piling up. Management realized that their team members were frantically busy, but not terrifically productive. We worked with the sales team members, managers, and the sales leadership team and boosted productivity and performance. As a result, the remote sales team's total sales calls per week went up over 20% from the prior year, which translated into $2 million in additional revenue. Embrace the new world of work and make an investment in your company’s long-term growth and profitability. …see more
The days blur together, your eye drops no longer help with perpetual Zoom fatigue, and the thought of opening the pigsty that is masquerading as your inbox makes you want to scream. You're overstretched, overwhelmed, and burned out. 75% of workers have recently experienced burnout, and 40% of those said it was a direct result of the pandemic. If you're experiencing it, your employees are too. A burned out workforce is a disengaged workforce. How do you identify a disengaged, burned out team member? How can you see that through Zoom and email? Pay attention to one simple thing... Do your team members joke about the “Sunday Night Scaries''? I know that I like to joke about the “scaries", but it is serious! If your colleagues and employees are unhappy and dissatisfied, the "Sunday Night Scaries" probably strike every weekend as they dread the thought of another Monday morning. If employees talk about the "Sunday Night Scaries" that is a clear signal that now is the time to address disengagement and burnout. A disengaged workforce is a giant red flag for your business. …see more

Today's New York Times features a story on how millennials are taking over major fashion houses. Vanessa Friedman, the NY Times' fashion editor, quotes some of the eye-popping statistics on China's luxury buyers from our recent report on the subject, led by my colleague @Daniel Zipser. "This is even more crucial when it comes to China, which despite trade wars and political tension, is for many brands still the promised land of future growth, and where millennials are the highest-spending age group. According to McKinsey’s 2019 China Luxury Report, the approximately 10.2 million Chinese millennial luxury consumers are the “driving force of the country’s luxury appetite,” accounting for more than half the total spending on luxury in 2018 — which is to say, more than half of the $115 billion (770 billion RMB) spent at home and abroad. By 2025, Chinese consumers are expected to account for 40 percent of worldwide luxury spending. In the United States, millennials accounted for approximately $200 billion in consumer spending in 2018, according to McKinsey. On dissent, challenging the status quo, and voicing exceptional truths: "If one person voices what everyone else is thinking, what was initially a minority opinion can quickly become the majority." Article via Lawrence Yeo, h/t Nir Eyal "This highlights the big difference in marginal value between a consensus opinion, and a dissenting one. Whereas each additional consensus voice doesn’t make much impact, a single dissenting voice has the power to bring the entire argument down. 10 people all saying the same thing is far less interesting than the 1 person that has a reasonable, opposing view." …see more
“We have the saying that we always want to be riding the crest of the wave rather than swimming in the shallows,” said Richard George . “We constantly want to be innovating and pushing. We want to win and we want to do it as a team. If you do those two things, then you can pretty much achieve anything.” Congratulations to the team at Refinitiv on their #AdobeExperienceMakerAwards win, a fantastic example illustrating what happens when culture is as much a priority as technology within #digitaltransformation .
