WeChat a huge lifeline for me now, but this product didn't even exist 6 years ago. Definitely one of the most successful product in history (and could use a lot of improvement to make it more friendly to non-Chinese people).
***** FIXED ***** Jo Caudron Deinze, Belgium in for the BIG SAVE and the WIN!!!! https://lnkd.in/d5HX92W is the URL of Zoom 4.6.9 installer -- It is the last guaranteed to work with Blackmagicdesign Desktop! Way to go Jo!!!!! ***URGENT*** I did the Zoom security update and now Zoom does not see external cameras on macOS. 1) Is anyone else having this issue? 2) Is there a solution? I've been using the Blackmagicdesign UltraStudio Mini Recorder (SDI in/Thunderbolt out) for months. Post-Zoom update Quicktime sees the UltraStudio inputs, as does Blackmagicdesign's Media Express capture software, so the UltraStudio Mini Recorder (external camera) is being seen by macOS (Catalina 10.15.4). However, Zoom will not show the UltraStudio Mini Recorder on the list of devices (which it was doing before the update), it only shows the internal Facetime Webcam. #zoom #zoomrooms #zoommeeting #zoommeetings #videoconference #videocalls #videoproduction #blackmagicdesign …see more

Pandemic and Protests: What is the Next "P" Word? I can't help but note that just when one thought the world could not be crazier, it becomes crazier. Just when I think we have experienced enough trauma to last us several life times, we have new trauma and a retriggering of older trauma. I actually remember the LA riots; images redound. So, what's the next "P" to befall us? Will it be another terrible thing -- as in bad things come in threes? When I raised this with someone today, they suggested the next P word should be "Peace." I hope he's right. Sadly, my mind thinks poverty and PTS and policing and politics and paranoia. What happened to words in my head like panacea and pulchritude? Gone. Think peace. Think pacifist. Think problem-solving. Think positive. …see more
At the risk of trolls beating down my door with their nastiness, I need to ask this question. It may sound snarky but it is heartfelt: What expertise does Jared Kushner have that will help protect, inform and guide our nation through a pandemic? Is he a doctor? NO. Is he an epidemiologist? NO. Is he a pharma researcher? NO Is he a public health expert? NO. Is he a psychologist or psychotherapist or trauma expert? NO. Is he a person with decades of leadership experience and gray hair and wisdom? NO. So, what is it that he brings to the nation? Why is HE speaking on the pandemic? That's frightening on so many levels it is hard to list them all. He needs to go home and social distance. He needs to step off the podium. Oh. I know what he is good at: self promotion to the extreme. That's narcissistic personality right? …see more
People laughed at Don Quijote. People have laughed at my effort to try to save Southern Vermont College, including some who should be embarrassed. Here’s my view: we message when we try hard tasks. We don’t cave (think caves at SVC). We need to message. Sure, it is wise to have an orderly closure. It is never wise to make fun of innovators. It is never wise to assume one has a lock on the answers. Goodness: leaders need to show humility and hope and faith and belief in the power of the possible. Don Quijote became and is a classic that inspires. Many of us are Quixotic. I will never ever apologize for that. The title of my new children’s book (released April 10th at Northshire bookstore in VT) messages that again and again and again. …see more

Folks, here's a thought. We prize athletes. They help with raising dollars for Houston. They are role models. But, there is a big but. Many have not completed their education and their colleges/universities still consider putting them in their Hall of Fame (with no degree). With CTE and other sports injuries and employment needs, might we do better? Seriously. https://lnkd.in/dWJw_BU This piece offers up a new approach. Professional leagues, players associations and colleges/universities could partner on this. What an idea -- collaboration?! …see more
So, here is the question that is puzzling me. Can someone, whether they are a President or anyone else, redeem themselves and cure omissions by later clarity and specificity? In other words, can one refine one's comments on White Supremacy and racism that were too vague and too weak by ramping up one's outrage later? Do we treat the later comments as a reflection of the real feelings of the person speaking and ignore earlier flawed rhetoric or do we look at the first words spoken and treat them as "truth?" Does it matter if it is minutes, hours or days between the first comments and the improved comments? And, one more thing: to what standard do we hold our leaders with respect to their obligation to speak up and out out on topics such as discrimination, racism, sexual assault, violence? High -- the question is how high the bar is and should be. …see more

I just received this description of a new project from http://kiron.nucleode.com /. What do you think? The video shows a 72y old female with a right parasagittal meningioma before a neurosurgery procedure. Using Microsoft HoloLens, the surgeon is able to see a patient-specific 3D model based on the pre-operative MRI, placed with accuracy inside of the patient: in yellow the brain cortex, in green the meningioma and in blue and red the two spino-thalamic tracts. This offers more information to the surgeon, who can better decide the position of the patient for the procedure and the correct approach for the craniotomy and the reaching of the tumor. https://lnkd.in/gXpfnCG …see more
