Pro tip: If I sign up for a free trial with your Saas company and you send me a quick email asking if I have any questions, and I send a reply email with said questions almost immediately, maybe don't take over 24 hours to get back to me? Quick communication is great but follow-through is critical.

The fact that Burger King Corporation 's "Whopper Detour" campaign, which offered one-cent Whoppers when you ordered via their app at any McDonald's location, is winning advertising awards is not surprising as it was pretty dang clever. And spot-on for their challenger Brand position. What's eye-opening are the stats the campaign produced: - 1.5 million Burger King app downloads - 3.5 billion earned media impressions - 37-to-1 return on investment No word on actual sales number but a 37-to-1 return on investment is a pretty good indicator that this worked. Another savvy brand move from Burger King Corporation . Burger King is a challenger brand. And while they are clearly trolling McDonald's "Happy Meal" here, this is actually so much more than mere trolling. They're reaching out to their customers in a realistic way. Even partnering with Mental Health America to raise awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month. There's a reason why there are a range of emojis that one can use to react to stories on Facebook and now on LinkedIn . Burger King is tapping into that idea to connect to their customers. Why did Bezos change his mind? Because he was wrong. Advertising, especially brand advertising, is pretty important given Amazon 's the level of brand recognition. They need to be in the business of reminder marketing (brand advertising) in addition to other marketing efforts. Well, we knew it was coming. The Walt Disney Company just announced the name and launch window for their Netflix rival, Disney+. Should be interesting to see how/if this impacts subscriber numbers for not only Netflix but Amazon , Hulu , Vudu - Movies & TV , and the upcoming efforts by Apple . I've travelled around the world yet I keep running into people I know. I know people with the same experience. How is that possible with 7.6 billion people? It shows that we don't get out much. We stay in the same small circles even though we travel the world.

Let's talk about systems. On December 1, 1913, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. His innovation reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes. The new system was much more efficient. Under the old system, even if EVERY worker was productive, building a car took 12 hours. Why did the new system drastically improve productivity? Because systems affect outcomes. Are there police officers who are good people, with good intentions? Of course! But this does not change the fact that the SYSTEM is broken. If racist, prejudiced cops are being given a license to kill, and black people are being murdered at astronomically disproportionate rates, the system is broken. If laws and sentencing are applied to benefit some racial groups and not others, the system is broken. Have you ever wondered why being caught for underage drinking or doing drugs at a white college party has little to no consequences, but there are black men who have been in prison for years for possession of marijuana (even though white America has now turned marijuana into a big business)? Once a crime is no longer associated with blackness, it is deemed more socially acceptable. #SystematicRacismExplained …see more
