This is how the various Crypto Pyramid Schemes work. If you've a degree of influence or some credibility: 1)Buy your Coin of choice. 2)Pump it as much as you can. Leverage the power of today's media that loves articles that look fantastical and drive clicks.  3)Make outlandish predictions about it's growth. 4)Recruit others, They hear this & buy in ( so the price goes up) 5)You now have an army of people who will now pump & hype the currency for you and passionately so, after all they have skin in the game.  6)By now you have a good growth history and trajectory.  7)You celebrate those who you recruited earlier to "predict the growth" which now means the world thinks those people somehow objectively can see the future or knew more.  8) People now listen to those "gurus" , and thus their predictions inherently drive growth.  And here's the thing. Since all assets prices are set by trust and confidence, the currency could create its own sustainable value & everyone is exonerated and smug. Or probably 99% of the time the whole thing crashes. But I promise you this. 99.9999999% of the people promoting these things are people who own this stuff and are pumping it irrationally to create their own wealth. Humans aren’t meant to stay still. “The research is pretty clear. They have done experiments. They’ve deprive animals of play—they give them love, nurturing, food, shelter, all the things they need to survive— but they deprive them of play, the animal inevitably grows up to be socially and emotionally crippled," Charlie said. Charlie calls it “chronic-play deprivation.” And I think many people suffer from that. It’s the transition from childhood to adulthood. Statistically, children laugh an average of 300 times a day. But adults laugh an average of 3-5 times a day. Charlie said he was approaching life “so seriously and joylessly. Researchers at the University of Tübingen tried to train an A.I. to learn to identify a specific fish called tench on pictures. When they looked into the A.I. to see how it tries to identify that fish, they found out that the #AI was looking for human fingers against a green background as most of the tench photos in the training data featured a fisherman holding the fish in their hands after catching it. Can you imagine how useful it would be in medicine to point out such things before an algorithm is developed? This way, we could avoid so many false negatives, false positives and bias built into the algorithms. For example, radiologists looked at the ChestXray14 dataset of X-ray images and discovered that many of the images of patients with pneumothorax had a chest drain on the image as treatment already started when doing the X-ray. A #MachineLearning algorithm tasked with identifying X-rays of pneumothorax would probably look for the drain in the images as a perfect sign of the condition (they have to perform as well as humans would do, not learn to diagnose the condition), this way, missing patients with the condition who have not been treated yet. SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STUDENT LOAN DEBT - 44 MILLION Americans are in student loan debt. - There is $1.5 TRILLION in student debt., up from $200 billion in 2004. - Income for people ages 18-35 have gone DOWN since 1992. - At age 18, you can BORROW $200,000 but you can't drink a beer. - Student loan debt is the ONE debt that doesn't go away in a bankruptcy. The government WILL go after you. - Because of this, college tuitions have gone up TEN TIMES FASTER than inflation since 1977 (healthcare has gone up 3x faster). - 50% of students have student loans. Up from 15% in 1989. - The president of Quinnipiac College (where?) makes $3.5 million in salary (I just use this as an example to show where these rising tuitions are going). This has led to rising income inequality, less young entrepreneurs and innovation. Solutions: - relief of student loan debt so America remains in the lead of innovation. - Accreditation of online universities: increasing supply will reduce price. - system where investors can "buy" 10% of future income. Moving funding into the private sector. - spread awareness of companies that do not require a degree: Examples: Google, Hilton, Apple, IBM, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, etc. don't require a degree. #college #success …see more

I've had about 6 genetic tests and have learnt a lot about myself and the future of my health. I learnt about my risks for chronic conditions, thrombosis and my chance for side effects after taking certain medications. I have also received a lot of emails from people who wanted to choose a test but didn't know how. So it was time to release the database of direct-to-consumer genetic testing companies. Habits don’t begin with action. They begin with a trigger to action. I illustrate how to form habits, or "manufacture desire" with my Hooked Model (pictured below!) You guide users through a certain sequence of experiences, from trigger to action, to reward, to investment. Repetition matters here! To understand Fortnite’s staying power with players, it’s important to understand the game’s Hooked Model. In my book, I describe Hooks as “experiences designed to connect the user’s problem with the company’s product with enough frequency to form a habit.” Here are the five steps of the Hooked Model: -External Trigger: Prompts us to action and tell us what to do next (invites to join friends in the game) -Internal Trigger: feelings we seek to escape (boredom, seeking connection) -Action: the simplest behavior is done in anticipation of a reward (accepting that invite) -Reward: relief from the “itch” of the trigger (variability within the game) -Investment: what the user puts into the product to improve with use ( customization and personalizations) Fortnite’s amazing success is no accident. #Fortnite #Hooked #InternalTrigger …see more

How do we create habit-forming products? First, start by understanding what drives our actions. Dr. BJ Fogg at Stanford University developed a model showing that in order to initiate any and all behaviors, a product needs three things: 1. The user must have sufficient motivation: Why are they using the product? 2. The user must have the ability to complete the desired action: How easy is it to use the product? 3. A few years ago, Google went on a mission: Discover how to build the perfect team. The study was code-named "Project Aristotle," a tribute to the famous philosopher's belief that it's possible to have a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. . After poring through the data, the researchers clearly ranked one factor as most important: Psychological safety. Google describes it this way: "In a team with high psychological safety, teammates feel safe to take risks around their team members. They feel confident that no one on the team will embarrass or punish anyone else for admitting a mistake, asking a question, or offering a new idea." In other words, Google discovered that for teams to work well together, team members must feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Then, and only then, can they contribute to their full potential. What's the difference between health IT and digital health? Even medical professionals and policy makers confuse these two terms, so I invented the Gary-rule as a simple guideline: If a technological issue comes up in a healthcare setting and we have to call Gary, the IT guy, as he is alone capable of solving it, it’s an IT issue.
