Simon SinekNone of us can get through this (or anything else) alone. As social animals we need each other. When we find the courage to admit that we're struggling, ask for help or accept help when it is offered, we become stronger. It also opens a door for others to let us in to help them, too. Simon Sinek"Dreams always come from behind you, not right between your eyes. It sneaks up on you. But when you have a dream, it doesn't often come at you screaming in your face, "This is who you are, this is what you must be for the rest of your life." Sometimes a dream almost whispers. And I've always said to my kids, the hardest thing to listen to—your instincts, your human personal intuition—always whispers; it never shouts. Very hard to hear. So you have to every day of your lives be ready to hear what whispers in your ear; it very rarely shouts. And if you can listen to the whisper, and if it tickles your heart, and it's something you think you want to do for the rest of your life, then that is going to be what you do for the rest of your life, and we will benefit from everything you do." - Steven Spielberg #passion #listentothewhispers #findyourwhy #startwithwhy #liveyourwhy …see more

Suddenly Disney is out of magic, Paris is no longer romantic, New York doesn't stand up anymore, the Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty. Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love. Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can't get you the oxygen you're fighting for. The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. Reducing expectations to zero is a powerful thought; it doesn't mean you give up. It means it frees you from fear and failure. Also, no expectations mean you free yourself from external recognition to validate your work and achievements. Tom GoodwinWhen a plane takes off, it takes off into the wind. For the first 5-15 mins it’s goal is only to gain altitude, to trim its wing to be more efficient and go further, to get to what it’s made to do, fly. The distance covered in that time is often in the wrong direction or not far. It doesn’t matter in the scheme of things . In a non patronizing way, this always seems like how people should think of the first jobs in their career. The good news? Ask any successful business leader, manager, parent, soldier, preacher, teacher or health care provider and they will tell you this: You will never achieve success unless you have looked into the abyss of failure, made your peace with it, respect it for the test it made you take and above all moved on and upward. For each generation the test is different that is why you can't study for it, you just have to take it. Its called experience and you can't achieve success without it. James AltucherHOW TO FIND SUCCESS LATE IN LIFE: There's a simple answer: do whatever you want. Then it all adds up. If you try to get 1% better each day at your health, at your relationships and the way you treat people, at your creativity, and at turning despair into gratitude, then that 1% compounds into an amazing person. Do that 1%. Take one action. Even if the actions is for one minute. The 1/1/1 strategy. I know this. Because I'm still compounding. What is 1%? Whatever you want it to be. The math of life is multi-dimensional. What happens to amazing people? Everything happens to them. And you never worry about what you accomplish. Because there is no ONE thing. There is EVERY thing. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhook, or clay pots, or grinding stones. But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization is #compassion . A femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed was discovered from an ancient culture 15,000 years ago. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink, or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal. A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. “Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts,” Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, #committed citizens can’t #change the world; For, indeed, that's all who ever have.” We are at our best when we serve others. If you want to make an impact then just get out there and do it. Things started happening for me when I stopped asking for permission and gave myself permission to do great things. Tom GoodwinI'm sure it's very different for many people, but I'm thinking for many people the last week has been FAR harder than the first. Between the anxiety of a unknown spreading medical condition that's being covered 24/7 , the stress of being locked up inside & being asked to work hard at your job, be a teacher and a parent at the same time. All with the uncertainty of when life will come back, what life will look like and incredible stresses on finances, relationships, health. We've lost any sense of normality, routine, predictability, or events we know we can look forward to. And we're doing this with reduced access to the places which make us feel better & give us perspective, being separated from those who make us feel better, and with media and algorithms continually trying to whip us into a frenzied paranoid mob. So hang on in there, I sure everyone is doing incredibly well, it's OK to not be OK, in fact if you're not, it's a miracle. And let's try to be forgiving and nice. …see more

Vani Kola‘The trouble with most of us is we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism.’ – Norman Vincent Peale, author of ‘The Power of Positive Thinking.’ Welcoming criticism is easier said than done. Undoubtedly feeling hurt and of being judged is inevitable. Sometimes we have to ignore criticism because it can also cripple us from proceeding on unknown paths. How to incorporate #criticism into our journey? 1. Introspect - Evaluate the comment in a detached and objective way. 2. Think from your heart - Don’t be angry with the person, see them as your well-wishers in your evolution. If possible, thank the person for giving you feedback. 3. Understand the gaps - Some times the gaps are real and many times a perception. Resolve to make small changes you can make to be the person you want to be. When giving critical feedback; the tone, the words, and the intent matters. 1. The #intent always has to be to help someone to raise their benchmark because they are competent to achieve a lot more. 2. The #tone of fairness and words that are not demeaning is important. …see more

Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment. Cleverness is mere opinion. Bewilderment brings intuitive knowledge. 7. Quentin Michael Allums"Nobody takes you seriously!" 🛑 Negative messages don't really get to me. But what does get to me is when I see other creators quit because of them. People will always have an opinion on the things that you create. It's important to note that 1). YOU need to be clear on your target audience. And 2). people's opinions, outside of your target audience, don't pay your bills. If what you're doing is working for you, then keep doing it. If it's not, do something else. I'm always very vocal when it comes to defending creators because it takes a lot to be able to step out and create.
