If you are a #watchonista like me the raging debate is what watch to wear to the #superbowl this weekend. I'm going off piste and wearing a #VacheronConstantin Historiques American 1921. The origins of this watch go back to 1921, when Vacheron Constantin created a limited series of watches just for American motorists. The idea was to create a watch optimized for reading with your hands on the steering wheel, so the dial was rotated to place it at the correct angle for easy viewing. The high noon numeral "12" is actually 30% off axis and it freaks people out when the see it. This is a new and welcomed addition to my collection modified by the good people at HODINKEE, Inc. with a custom red band so I'm giving it some love. Nobody needs to buy a watch anymore. Your cell phone tells time with more accuracy than any mechanical timepiece ever could. Watchmaking is a dying art. The artisans that dedicate their lives to designing and engineering #Watches in #Switzerland #Japan #Germany and #Italy are far and few between.
