I used to think that my keynote travel routes such as “Osaka-Chicago-Vienna-Budapest” were a logistical challenge. But actually what we’re facing currently with The Medical Futurist team is the truly unprecedented challenge: I get keynote invites with 2 weeks to prepare for (usually it’s half a year), and I get to do 3-4 times more virtual presentations than live (and so we make them happen!) And as much as I’m thankful for our new studio, I’m so looking forward to my first live keynote I got invited to: Hello Athens in August! (after getting vaccinated of course). #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #speaker #keynote #speakerlife …see more

do not rely only on one theory or one theorist without context. if you are a practitioner, you do not need to rely on a theorist, mere knowledge of his theory is enough to augment your own practical wisdom.
Y'all know I love a good list. This one is short and practical and funny. Number two made me smile big, and I've already started to incorporate no. 3 into my work day - it helps me get my step count up! .

When Al Gore said he “invented the information superhighway,” the idea was laughable, but it was (and is) a reasonable metaphor for the way information travels around the Internet. Even engineers like to call bunches of bits getting from place to place, “traffic.” Think about this... …see more

When I think about the recent history of augmented reality eyewear, I fondly remember being called a “Glasshole” when sporting my Google Glass in public, and being too embarrassed to wear my Snap Spectacles in public. Think about this...

President Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday to discuss a possible resolution to their ongoing trade war. One factor that could be pushing the president toward a deal: His trade policies are broadly unpopular with American voters. A new survey conducted for The New York Times by SurveyMonkey finds that a majority of Americans think the trade fight with China will be bad for the United States. There's a big partisan split -- Democrats and independents oppose the tariffs by a wide margin, while Republicans overwhelmingly support the president's approach. But even most Republicans think the trade war will raise prices. Will any of this matter in 2020? Hard to say. Trade doesn't generally rank high on voters' lists of top issues. It hardly even came up at the first Democratic presidential debate. But if the trade war starts to damage the broader American economy, then all bets are off. "These lessons are learned from a young age and from the environment in which you came, and after years of developing such self-belief, knowledge and focus, it becomes very hard to fit into what some might deem “normal”. If you believe you can create greatness and you manage to do that, it’s very hard to then accept that it can’t happen again." https://lnkd.in/d9jzaEA #founders #innovator #tech #innovation #entrepreneurship #startup …see more

Almost ten years ago, I walked into the newsroom of Nation Media Group 's Daily Nation newspaper as an International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Knight Health Fellow, tasked with nurturing better coverage of health care in #Kenya. I could tell hundreds of stories about the incredible peaks and valleys of my journey as a one woman mentor/trainer for hundreds of Kenyan journalists. All I'll say for now is that I'm humbled to think that my efforts may have contributed to the formation of an official #Science News Desk at Daily Nation. Kenya has staked a significant claim to producing some of the best #health, #research and #tech reporting on the African continent, and I'm thrilled to watch it all unfold. #Africa #journalism #media #ICFJ …see more
