As you may know, I've written a book on trauma and its impact on student learning and psychosocial development. This book, Trauma Doesn't Stop at the School Door, can inform reopening of schools, whether in person, online or in some hybrid fashion. It is for this reason that I have developed 3 products. The 1st is described here: it's a tongue twister and word play book to be used at home or in school. It has a variety of word games from spoonerisms to mad lib-like fill ins to word identification to shaped reading (reading in a shape). These are all strategies that can be deployed to manage the autonomic nervous system and encourage play while learning. And, the tongue twisters allow students and teachers and caregivers to make mistakes, play together, learn words, practice pronunciation and see that learning involves trying again and again.
