I'm routinely staggered at how stupid Advertising thinking continues to be, especially the moment we do anything with technology. Take a look at this NIVEA "Lens experience" where you can scan your limited edition box to get "product information and entertainment" How bored would you have to be to seek entertainment from a box of moisturizer? I think Marketers remove their human being head each day when they start work. Beiersdorf thinks they are "pursuing an innovative path to further strengthen consumer connection" ( from the press release", are they or are they trying to - Say they did something with Google Lens. - Show X people interacted for X mins. Why not use Google Lens to order companion NIVEA products? We are all in the business of making money for our Clients. We do this by charging more & selling more. For almost all products, every single advert should be about removing the steps needed to buy something. Ads should be: -Buy now with one click, or -Click to add to basket, or -Click to install, or -Click to arrange test drive Instead, we dick around with easy to track PROXIES for success which are irrelevant and get in the way. - Click to follow - Click to go to microsite - Click to engage with fun chatbot! I think my mega trend for 2018 is just the word “same”. Generally speaking for most people in the world, technology has changed remarkably little in 2017, 2016, 2015 and every year since about 2011. The trends decks I wrote in 2013 pretty much still predict the same future that you see a way off today. It’s taking a long time for tech change to materialize. Perhaps it never will. Perhaps shows like Black Mirror that show a world similar today with mere incisions of the new are most accurate. Societal and behavioral change caused by software or business models built on top of tech from 2005-2010 are the things that have really shifted. Yet we don’t tend to talk about that. I’m working on a huge deck that explores this. …see more
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". Government's acknowledgement of blockchain in this year's budget is a small step which is bound to have a far-reaching impact. It will create opportunities for India's start-ups and act as a catalyst for moving towards a digital economy. #Blockchain #Budget 2018 …see more

Nobody can tell you what to do. No matter what they pay you. No matter what obligations you feel you owe them. Every second defines you. Be who you are, not who anyone else is, or who anyone else wants you to be.
After a two year pause since 1989, Taylor Swift is launching her new album, reputation, in November. Clever go to market strategy from her team. From removing all her existing Instagram photos to having a blank website, I have a feeling this will all tie in with the theme of the album. Anyone else also excited for this new album? #reputation …see more

I messed up. I'm a big company culture geek. And we talked a lot about building a culture within our company that allowed everyone to be open and honest with one another. I pushed it every day and yet it still wasn’t happening for everyone. I read the culture code recently, which dissects some of the most successful teams, companies, and organizations across history and the globe. And one commonality that was found is that each culture had a sense of safety. And I realized that we were clear on the type of culture that we wanted to create. But we weren’t fostering an environment that allowed that open & honesty to happen. We were talking but we weren’t listening to everyone. And since making some adjustments it is no longer an issue. But that’s the thing about culture, you can’t just write down your values and expect things to happen. It’s living, breathing, and something that you have to be uber intentional about every single day. What are some of the best/worst teams you've been a part of and why? #justQ 🖤 …see more

Scaling up a business is the dream of every entrepreneur and investor. Over the years, I have seen many startups scale up sustainably. On the other end of the spectrum, I have seen many startups scale up too fast too soon, at the cost of customer satisfaction, employee morale, operational excellence and too much funding. There are some factors that one should consider while scaling up. 1. Right team members with a right mindset can make a huge difference 2. An operational expansion should not be at the cost of customer experience 3. Preserve the core proposition and company values 4. Get the unit economics right before expanding fast paced #ScalingUpSustainably …see more
