T-minus four days. Nerves are kicking in, but pumped to share my immigrant story at scale and how personal branding has transformed my career from zero to infinity! As a someone who has given numerous talks, I'll be the first to admit that I still get the jitters with every new talk, especially with this TEDx that is being delivered in front of a live audience of 1,500+ people. Nothing like a dose of nerves to jumpstart the adrenaline. That being said, I am very excited for the talk this Saturday! What's your favorite advice when it comes to public speaking? I'll be speaking at TEDxBerkeley next month on the topic of personal branding. Putting the finishing touch to my TEDx Talk at the moment, but still missing one thing: the talk title. There's no better place to gather feedback than the LinkedIn community. Love to hear your thoughts on which of these titles would get you interested in learning more about personal branding. Having my first face to face business meetings in the same city I had my last ones. Copenhagen. My goodness it’s great to be back in reality, meeting and working with people. Time for the world to spin again
Just another day of me being baffled at how poorly the education sector prepares people for every aspect of adult life. From domestic economics to any remotely useful skills for most jobs, to more lofty goals like self understanding. I left with 2 degrees, great periodic table knowledge and no ability to write a work email. Huge wonderful opportunity to make a difference to a lot of people here
It’s been a while since I got to hang out with my TransUnion Africa team. Today we finalized our preparations for our first virtual TransUnion South Africa Summit which takes place next week and I got to experience first hand the great work our teams have done to make our offices safe and compliant with all COVID protocols. We managed to pull off this social distancing compliant group pic :-) The TransUnion South Africa Summit is themed “Embracing change to build resilience” and is almost fully subscribed. The summit features keynotes from Vusi Thembekwayo and Azar Jammine . Carmen Williams Michelle van Renen Nidhi Verma Charlie Wise …see more
I want YOU to know about THIS amazing woman. Jennifer A. Garrett, JD, LLM, MBA is a single mother of FIVE beautiful children with SEVEN degrees, and TWENTY+ years of experience with Fortune 100 organizations. She's a former Army lawyer and author of the book I'm holding in this picture called, Move The Ball. Despite naysayers and judgement, she used her obsession of football to push her corporate training and hunger for success and teamwork forward. So let me tell you a little secret... She's one of my BIGGEST inspirations... When I'm exhausted from hospital treatments, speaking engagements, pressing client deadlines and family obligations... I think of her and her many accomplishments and I'm reminded that anything is possible with determination. She's always got a smile on her face and a can-do attitude. If your organization is seeking a contract lawyer, negotiation expert or cultural transformation pro, she needs to be the first one on your list! Keep shining, gorgeous! PS - Even though I love you, I'm still a Packers fan 😉😉 #cheesehead #inspiration #success #executivecoach …see more

We’re very lucky to have a wonderful farmers’ market we can walk to every Saturday. Great people, fresh produce, and a real sense of community...which, these strange and unusual days, involves emphasis on social distancing/masks to ensure own and each others’ families wellbeing. …see more
In the modern world with limited attention spans and abundant stuff, you only really tend to get noticed making claims or writing pieces or tweets that are simplistic, against or with a current narrative, and an even more extreme data point or view point that what is already known. So our conversations become ever more extreme, removed from the reality of the middle, and nuance is lost. Virtually everything is non binary. TV isn't dead, the world isn't about to explode from heat, big slow companies are not all screwed, startups are not more threatening than ever, digital ads do work, and yet you tend to only get noticed saying this. So I wish we could enjoy the healthy debate to find the nuance, rather than try to win arguments and see the gap as being division not energy for a discussion to learn from. …see more

The moment of epiphany — sudden light — is a myth when it comes to amazing #ideas . Amazing ideas take a long time to develop with a range of different, and often unconnected experiences. The lessons and insights from these various experiences mix with each other leading to something new. And then, there are iterations and #pivots . All these need patience. Getting an amazing idea is just one part of the game. The other is execution. An idea without execution is merely an illusion. And success needs #perseverance , the ability to go on, even if it’s boring. …see more
One of my most successful posts on Linkedin was on how to deal with anxiety. It wasn’t the most liked. It wasn’t the most commented. But… ...it was the catalyst for so many DMs from people telling me how helpful I was in allowing them to recover from anxiety and panic attacks in the office. Talking about these more “controversial” issues sometimes lowers the vanity metrics we are used to. But, the impact they have on people FAR outweighs the reach. Inspired by #MentalHealthAwareness month and the #LinkedinLocalMentalHealth happening in London today! …see more
Women Pioneers—Womaneers—Should Inspire All Who Aspire To Be Their Best Selves The U.S. Navy has its first Black female tactical jet pilot, Lt. j.g. Madeline Swegle. First Ever—This is news all Americans should celebrate! There was another history-making military achievement this week. A female Army National Guard soldier graduated from the grueling Special Forces, making her the first woman to join the Green Berets. I was raised in a family where both my mom and dad told all their children that, with hard work and grit, we could be anything we wanted to be. These were Big Words coming from people who lived in an era when women typically stayed home to care for ‘the family.’ And when I met my husband, I learned that his Great Aunt was Emilia Earhart—a true and early—Womaneer! For those that aspire to be more, or do more, I say this: Take a breath, square your shoulders, and walk forward—and keep going till you reach your goal. Selected Excerpt: "Swegle is the @USNavy's first known Black female TACAIR pilot and will receive her Wings of Gold later this month. HOOYAH!" the post states.” …see more
It's often hard to make sense of the current trends - Who will they affect? When are they going to materialize? Why are they relevant? For disambiguation, I collected the top 40 digital health trends, and classified them in a single infographic along 3 key factors: 1. Does the trend affect patients or healthcare professionals? 2. Which stage of the delivery of healthcare and the practice of medicine is affected by the trend? 3. Is the outcome of the trend already available, is its development in progress, or does it still need some time to materialize? Have you ever been stuck in quicksand? I got sucked into a mud trap last weekend and it was the ultimate stress test! Last weekend in southern Minnesota, we found a lake in the middle of nowhere without "NO CAMPING" signs posted so we set up camp! On the shore of a lake, we put on our muddin' boots and grabbed the metal detector in my son's favorite game, TREASURE HUNT! As we carefully trudged through mud scanning the ground I heard a scream just 10 feet away, "MOMMY! I'm dying! I'm DEAD! Help me! I'm DEAD!" I saw him slowly sink into the mud trap as he panicked, fighting, and squirming to get out. Seeing my fair share of Discovery Channel shows, I knew EXACTLY what had to be done 🤪 So I slowly and calmly made my way towards him until I was trapped too! 🤦🏼♀️ Calming him down and containing my giggles of the chaotic mess, I had to think fast which was nearly impossible with his blood-curdling scream. So the next time you are stress-tested, 👉 Don't panic or you'll sink deeper into the trap. 👉 Assess the situation to find your exit options. 👉 Brainstorm solutions and GO! Now we are prepared for the next disaster. Are you? I'll share how we got out in the comments! #strategy #innovation …see more

For the first time, I was able to speak in classes and conferences at both of universities I attended: the University of Southern California and UC Irvine Both times seemed really surreal to me these past couple of weeks. I graduated from USC last year and transferred from UCI to USC 3 years ago. Both times, I was able to speak on how I grew my Linkedin following, how students can leverage the platform, and how to make content that really stands out. Both times, the students taught me so much more than they know through conversations about their passions and aspirations. If only I knew as a student how much value it brings to the speaker to show gratitude. As a shy college student, I would have never guessed just how rewarding it is for the person on the receiving end. #publicspeaking #studentvoices #university #gratitude …see more
