The most common question I get from students or young graduates is which career path to follow. 🤔 I’ve been encouraging them to ask a different question. Rather than “what do I want to do?” ask yourself “who do I want to surround myself with?” Who do you want to learn from? What types of people motivate you to do your best? Who inspires you? ... Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Shakeel bin Afzal - a photographer to the stars including Mahira Khan and Sonam Kapoor. It's a special feeling when you get to work with someone whose work you’ve admired from afar. #inspiration …see more

So fed up and just have to vent... I have 800+ LinkedIn connection requests pending. No way I can review them all. Of my last 100 connection requests (after accepting the valuable ones), only 23% are personalized. Those that 𝘼𝙍𝙀 personalized say things like: ֎I live here in your area and would like to add you to my network. (Sorry, living in my area doesn't mean we should be connected) ֎I am looking to connect with digital marketers. (Working in the same industry doesn't mean we should be connected) ֎We have 13 common connections. (Common connections doesn't mean we should be connected) 𝙈𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨: ➊. If I don't immediately recognize your name because we know each other well, I'm going to need a personalized connection request message to let me know why you want to connect. ➋. It needs to be personalized to me. If your connection request is general enough to be copied/pasted across multiple profiles, it's spam. Please, please, PLEASE be thoughtful in your connection requests and personalize! Don't allow your name to be thrown in the heap of outstanding requests on someone's profile. </rant> Am I just crazy or overly sensitive? …see more
Awesome tips from Ashton! I love how he defines “sexy” and how he thinks it’s essential for success.
The worst thing in wearing a cast? No doubt it's itching. And heaviness. And not being able to take a shower for weeks. As having broken several limbs, I know the pain. So trying out the Exovite 3D plaster cast was a real catharsis. Not only is it light, you don't itch and can have a shower with it, but it also has muscle stimulator, so patients can start rehabilitation while still having the cast. Too good to be true: I keep receiving calls from parents who can't get it anywhere for their children, and I can't recommend them any places where they could have the 3D printed casts customized. Do you know any such places? #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #3dprinting #cast …see more

This is beautiful beyond words. There are other worlds out there waiting to be discovered. I am never bored of watching images of space. So much more for us to comprehend. My interest in space started a long time ago, inspired by both fact and fiction. I received a book as a prize on Johannes Kepler and his discoveries in 9th grade, which opened my mind to astronomy. I was hooked to watch Star Trek in the '80s. Space the final frontier! #scienceandtechnology #science Image Credits: James O'Donoghue, Nasa …see more
As a voice for inclusion, I've received a lot of criticism, but death threats on LinkedIn is a new one. When you disagree with someone, I beg you to take a step back and reflect on your thoughts and feelings. 🚫Don't react on impulse. 🚫Don't choose hate. We're all dealing with demons. Nobody is perfect. Stop doing these 7 things to boost your #career immediately: 1. Mindlessly going through the motions Busy doesn’t equal productive. Gain #clarity on what you want, and make a conscious choice to combine your attention with your intention. 2. Doubting yourself Those who succeed move past their fears and do things before they’re ready. No one will believe in you unless you do. 3. Believing you know it all Use your curiosity to seek out new ideas, information, perspectives, especially if they differ from your own. 4. Putting yourself last #Selfcare means prioritizing your well-being to show up fully energized, ready to tackle challenges without sacrificing your sanity or health. 5. Forgetting that time is your most valuable asset Become vigilant about protecting your time by saying no to people and things that won’t help you accomplish your goals and outsource necessary (but disliked) tasks. 6. Assuming everyone knows your value Make it easy for your intended audience to quickly understand you, what you offer, your value, what differentiates you, and how you can help them, and they’ll better know, like & #trust you. 7. Going it alone Be a great colleague & friend to others, so when you need a favor, introduction, or feedback, you can reach out to your tribe for help. …see more
Florida going to full capacity at indoor bars and restaurants when positive testing rates are >10% has to be the most wrongheaded coronavirus response since NY mishandled assisted living facilities.
I have always been interested in #trekking & being in #nature . The noises in the night don’t scare me or bother me. In fact, they feel comforting and soothing. I believe I inherited my interest in being in nature from my father. My first real hard trek was hiking down Grand Canyon from the south rim to the Colorado river. It has remained a fond memory. Since then, I have done many treks. The only big trek I have done in India is an extensive one in Geriwal mountains Uttaranchal. It was truly beautiful & my most touching experiences were from the open-hearted people that dwell along the way. So for me, “Wild Karnataka “ was a real treat. I have lived in Karnataka for 13 years now. But sadly, I have not experienced any of its nature treats. We all know that globally we are losing green cover very fast. Here are some facts: -We have had six ice ages so far. The next ice age will be because of human destruction. -1 million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction, many within decades. Today we don’t know the full impact of what it means to lose a species. I hope this documentary by Amoghavarsha inspires more people to experience nature & commit to its protection. #Movie #WeekendMusings …see more
Our business coach made us do this exercise. 👇🏽 Well before quarantine I met up with a bunch of other business owners for "Growth Club." Basically it was all of my old business coaches clients meeting, working on their business, networking, etc. She had us all do an exercise: ✅ Create 80 boxes. That's around the average life span. ✅ Color in the amount of boxes that represent your age now. ✅ The boxes you have left are how many years you [could] have left. She then asked us a bunch of questions about what we wanted our life to be. A lot of people couldn't answer them. Time flies. Hell — it's halfway through the year already. We spend so much time on things we don't love. So much time on our businesses, growing our social media accounts, etc. We don't spend enough time asking ourselves what we actually want to do. How many boxes do you have left? What do you want to do with them? #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #entrepreneurship #business …see more
I've been doing the same "New Years" exercise for three years now. Every year I forget about it and stumble back onto it around New Years. I reviewed my answers from 3 years ago and I totally haven't achieved everything. But I've achieved a lot of those goals that I listed. The link to the exercise is in this week's edition of this newsletter. I also cover a few podcasting hacks, my focus for the next decade, and share a pretty rad case study. #justQ 🖖🏾🖤 #business #entrepreneurship …see more
