Health data is the new oil! The infographic describes the sources your health data is coming from. It's important that you are aware of these in the age of digital health and A.I. Our newest e-book, Privacy In The Digital Health Era, tackles this complicated topic from three angles: 1. Healthcare institutions holding on to your data (your medical records) 2. Medical data stored in the technologies you use (from fitness trackers to genetic tests) 3. Medical data stored where you aren’t aware of (from A.I. to the cloud) These three levels should be at the forefront of every privacy discussion going forward. They encompass the traditional, the new and the future spheres where our data is and will increasingly be stored. I truly hope you will find this e-book useful and I look forward to your feedback so we can keep on expanding it. https://lnkd.in/eFfYU7U #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #book #reading #read #ebook …see more

I'm largely giving up on Airbnb. Scaling the platform to such an extent now leads to a proliferation of "for profit" hosts and not "I like to share my space" hosts. Last 5 experiences have been very poor and the ranking system has propagated commercial listings over personal ones. A real shame.

When people ask what I do, I sometimes jokingly say I am on a mid-life crisis break. A younger friend asked me recently if I am not worried about how I would explain the gap in my CV. I was surprised. Do people still get asked about gaps in the CVs? Isn’t the #futureofwork a gig-based way of life? Given that I now work in #financialeducation, I encourage people to ‘retire early’ which basically means financial security is taken care of, and I work because I want to, not because I have to. Do you think it’s ok to answer - ‘I used to work for money....now money works for me’? Would love to hear from you - what would you say? …see more

Once in a while, there is a company that achieves the impossible. Tesla crossing the $500 billion-mark and revolutionizing the electric vehicle industry is a testament. This little history of the EV industry has many points to ponder. Here's why the incumbents couldn't solve it, and an upstart like Tesla overtook them in no time at all. #AutomotiveIndustry #ElectricVehicles #Technology Video Credits: Visual Capitalist …see more

🎉WHOA, I had a blast with you all, guns blazin' and donuts glazin'!🍩 In a world filled with stress, noise, and crisis, it would be easy to believe that real social connection has lost its magic... But that couldn't be further from the truth! And this group proved that last night. We sold out in a few days (even though the tickets were free) and we had a couple of tech hiccups... 1) Waiting Room We discovered that when we are ALL in breakout rooms, there isn't anyone left hanging around to admit those in the waiting room... so if you showed up 10 min late, that's my fault - we hope you can join us next time, on time 😉 2) Host Overwhelm The host has to admit people, present/speak, AND control breakout room assignments. It's best to have multiple HOSTS if you can! The introvert in me is loving this social distancing, but I have missed your smiling faces and cannot wait to catch up next time! If you're eager to learn about more LinkedIn Virtual events, comment "Count me in!" and I'll tag you as soon as we share the next eventbrite link or add you to the even here... I’ve just finished a book that casts light on one of the most remarkable features of our professional lives: the death of expertise. Experts need education, talent and the ability to communicate their talent, as well as peer appreciation. But all this is not enough anymore. Now more than ever, people tend to question a doctor or a researcher simply because they claim to have read something contrary on the internet. And since in a democracy everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, as an expert, you’re stuck with trying to transmit your knowledge and expert opinion. It has a truly crippling effect on informed debates on any number of issues. Do you ever have a hard time because of the “death of expertise”? #thedeathofexpertise #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #book #reading #read …see more

The 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE MEDIOCRE ENTREPRENEURS Face it. By definition most people are mediocre. Only 1% of people are in the top 1% of people! But 9 out of 10 drivers think they are above average in driving. Impossible! But people have an inflated sense of themselves. I'm mediocre. Maybe you aren't. But I've had to develop work-arounds and effective habits despite being mediocre. These techniques have worked for me. If you don't need them, then that's great. But I had to be aware of who I was. #entrepreneurship #investing #economy #successquote #procrastination #failures …see more
My friend wanted to be a famous artist. But she said, "I can do it in Paris. I feel that will inspire me." She had unopened paintbrushes in her apartment. Waiting to be packed. 20 years later she's a computer programmer now at an accounting firm in California. Another friend of mine is divorced and thinks she will never meet another guy again. She wants to meet a guy. She is 50 and incredibly healthy and good looking. Every time I see her she insists "I will never meet anyone! I'm too old." She is very convincing. #writing #happiness …see more

Google does not require a degree. Elon Musk does not care if you passed high school to attend his AI hackathon. I didn’t get to attend college, let alone a prestigious college. I still keep learning on MOOCs for free without bothering to get paid certificates. I got my first jobs by offering to work for free until they saw value. I offer the same to people who want to work for me. Are we seeing the start of a trend in which employers rely more on their own recruitment process and training to get talent than the signalling provided by degrees? What would that mean for the education sector? #education …see more
Feeling so dazzled by all of the AMAZING connections made over the past year despite the many obstacles - 80,000 decided to reach out to me and I couldn't be more thrilled! Here's the thing, those numbers don't mean a thing unless we can give back! So here are three people you DON'T want to miss! Carrie Bohlig 🎤 - one of my favorite humans (plus my son has a major 1st-grade crush on her daughter) 😂 "We do life with the people we mentor." Michael Ray 💛😁 - the smile guy that shares his incredible joy of life and humans regularly which is the ultimate gift we all need. "How to be joyful can be found in our people." Raquel Borras🦚 - a soul sister that brings real and raw conversations to encourage growth and transformation. "Don't be intimidated by a number of followers and create a meaningful connection." These people are all EXTRAORDINARY and I feel so incredibly blessed to have crossed paths with them in our careers. Over the next few weeks, I will continue to highlight people in my community that was a part of the XXO LIVE session! Who are the power players in YOUR community? Women-to-Women: Life (and Career) Advice. My mom recently passed and I found a card from her which, honestly, I don't recall receiving...but reading it again, I think it is full of wisdom. Here it is: If I were your age again, I'd spend a lot less time examining what's wrong about me, and a lot more time enjoying what's right about me. Because you know what? You're already perfect enough. So, live life on your own terms. Be who you are and love what you love. Reserve the right to be wrong. If things take an occasional turn you hadn't planned on, don't be tempted to call it a mistake. Just call it life and tuck the experience in your back pocket for safe keeping. Pretty soon you can take it out, share it with someone else, and call it wisdom. I'm not kidding. That's how it works. So, hey--enjoy the life you're in. Be as happy as you can. And feel how deeply and completely you are loved.... …see more
