Companies are all far far better off working hard to be what they should have been in June 2019, not working hard to be perfect for June 2020. This interim will vanish. People will return to the office, Conferences will come back, movie theaters will open, planes will fly people to far flung weekend destinations. Malls will be packed, people will shop in Grocery stores on the way back from picking up kids from School Classes. To rethink/retool your business model or culture on the assumption people won't be in offices, will be home during the day to accept deliveries, will only workout from home, is to root your business in a fad. Yes, the new normal will mean more remote working, more eCommerce, more direct to consumer brands, more companies using better technology to work more collaboratively. The new normal will mean companies offering better self serve customer service. It will mean more online training and education. More cashless transactions. But this new normal was always our future & we should have already been working to be best placed for it, now is a great time to build for this. …see more

It’s absolutely astonishing how many DTC companies, how many NeoBanks, how many reimagined Insurance companies, etc etc there are. The world is full of thrusting startups, stunning logos, slick websites, great lifestyle imagery. It’s testament to the idea both commerce and business is more open, accessible and easy than ever. A Facebook ad account, a white-labeled banking infrastructure, a chatbot and you too could be a Bank Founder. It’s very inspiring I just wished we used a bit more imagination to make things that were slightly different from each other. I don’t want to visit 10 websites to buy reimagined toothpaste, artisanal shampoo, personalized shower gel, face wash as a service, hair gel as a monthly box. I just wish every website didn’t have the same drab cliched founders story about a calling coming from “struggling to find soap” or being inspired in Peru. I wish every site did want me to sign up to a newsletter on entry and offer me the precise same 30% off for new customers with summer30 Can we start thinking more about problems and propositions.
