Covid-19 is ravaging the global economy and presenting employers with unprecedented challenges. For Gravity chief executive Dan Price, that challenge was crushing: The company's revenue had essentially been cut in half. Price was faced with a grave decision: Lay off 20% of his employees or go bankrupt. Price refused to accept either option. Instead, he decided to do something almost unheard of in today's business environment: He asked his employees what to do. "As a CEO, I don't believe in top-down decisions," Price said on Twitter. "I spent 40 hours talking with every employee about our finances and asked for ideas." What followed was a master class in emotional intelligence--and a major lesson in how to run a business in the face of difficult challenges. In Swedish schools there has been no mask wearing, no social distancing, no reduced classes sizes, nothing. Deaths under 19 = 1 Recorded teacher deaths = can’t find any* * happy to be corrected ( EDIT- I've been corrected, reports of a 60 year old person who was a Teacher was added below) Sweden will have by far the greatest infection rate in the world, so their population size or spread isn’t “helping them” , they have the second lowest number of ICU beds per person in Europe, so they are not being saved in numbers from death. They are also a country rooted in logic, equality and fairness. So it’s not like they’ve gone totally reckless. So let’s not say we’ve no idea how to do this or we face challenging choices . Waiting on pins and needles, going crazy figuring out how to dress for the interview or how to wear your hair... Intimidated by body language and unexpected questions during the in-person interrogation, that makes your stomach flip... When I applied for a job as a Marketing Manager for an IT academy I was invited for an interview, One of the six people interviewing me started to pick on me for using the word "dazzled" in my cover letter. It was totally on brand, But this engineer didn't dig that flavor or my bubbly nature, regardless of skill. Right then I knew it wasn't a fit. Needless to say, I went from having dreams of working for a small IT academy to writing for Thrive Global, working for millionaires across the globe on how to amplify their personal brand and thought influence. A lot has changed over the years. And I still use the word "dazzled" wherever possible 😉 Never dull your flavors to fit into someone else's recipe, especially when seeking a fit in your career.
