Every day I seek out mentors: people who have great experience to help me, particularly in areas I am new to, excited about, and know nothing about.

STOP WASTING TIME BY DEVELOPING ROUTINES Speed up your execution and stop wasting time by developing routines. Our brains learn through developing patterns and hardwiring them into our brains. Develop more routines, brain patterns, and spend less time and attention on tasks.

I love tech that helps us hack back and fight distraction! A great example of this is Unpluq -- a Dutch company currently running a crowdfunding campaign to produce a device that when plugged into your phone, restricts access to the apps of your choice. In their words, it’ll “transform your smartphone into a minimalist phone.” The team at Unpluq is taking a unique approach to hacking back and they’re incredibly close to reaching their goal! The link to their campaign is in the comments! #unpluq #hackback #technology …see more

You’re only one decision away from a totally different life. Making a positive, life-changing decision requires three steps for success: 1. Awareness When we’re unhappy, it can often feel like there’s no way out, but you always have options. The first step in making a #choice is the #awareness that you have one. At this stage, it’s not about editing yourself on what’s possible; it’s about being mindful that change starts with you and your attitude. (Note: choosing not to make a change is also a choice; if you’re not changing it, you’re choosing it.) 2. Attention with Intention Once you’ve realized that change is an internal job, consider those things within your control and how they impact—for better or worse—what you want. Bring your #attention to your #intention , and ask yourself what’s the one thing you can do right now to bring you closer to your #goals . This need not be a grandiose, sweeping gesture; the biggest change starts with a small step in a new direction. 3. Action This last step may seem obvious, but far too often, we fail to act even when we know that making a change is in our best interest. Nothing changes if nothing changes. And action begets more action, giving us the much-needed momentum to keep going, no matter how slowly we start. #leadership #career …see more

Women of all generations have something to learn from each other. Last night I had the opportunity to have dinner with three women who I have immense respect for. We discussed: 1️⃣ how the traditional career path has changed 2️⃣ how demanding work hours have affected personal relationships 3️⃣ how to create genuinely valuable experiences and spaces for female empowerment and entrepreneurship I feel incredibly grateful to be able to surround myself with women who want to uplift fellow women. Angela H. Chen (pictured below with me) and I are helping out with an event in SF feb 2nd on social entrepreneurship and mental health, Impact Mentality . Get tickets at the link in first comment. FINALLY! For years, I've been talking about liquid biopsy for oncologists at congresses and meetings. I've met a lot of skepticism. Now here is this: A commercial blood test, called a liquid biopsy, was at least as effective as a tissue sample at identifying important mutations in non-small cell lung cancers. #lung #lungcancer #blood #cancer #medicine #congress #digitalhealth …see more

A fifth day of record highs for gold--this as most global stock markets look to take a breather (with the major European bourses down 0.9-2.0% and US futures down 0.2-0.4%). In fx, and with reference to yesterday's post, the currency in Turkey is over 2% weaker -- also raising concerns about the risk of a more disorderly move. #stocks #markets #Turkey #gold …see more

VR is nice and all, but have you thought about removing a step from your booking flow. Dynamic Creative is indeed exciting, but have you thought about making sure you're in stock of your most popular items? The robot you have in the front is lovely, but what about opening another till because there is a long line? Be proud of press release about using drones, but have you though about letting customers email you? It's great you're embracing AI, maybe it can make a decent mobile website for you? Your always on content strategy is wonderful in it's ambition, but let's get excited about making really good stuff for it. I'd like you to get as excited about 3D storytelling as you are about the idea of keeping me signed into your website that I pay access to use. …see more

This quadrant is in my new book. Obviously the best thing to do is to focus on things that are easy to do and matter. But it's weird we then shift to things that are easy to do and don't matter, not things that are hard and are vital. We do the frivolous before we do the reinvention. This explains a lot. …see more

We've mainly had technology that starts out as a toy for rich people, then becomes increasingly useful for rich people, then moves down and spreads further based on wealth/income.  I wonder what technology can work the other way around and help those in need first. 3D printed homes could help those with very little. Could solar power leapfrog power grids?  Graphene can desalinate sea water. Mobile banking helps the unbanked. Secure treatment of property deeds would provide security for many ( and allow people to borrow money affordably) . Would love to hear examples of technology that may help those who need it most first. …see more
