Duck 2020. May the positive vibes brings us a better new year. If I share one book to read - AntiFragility by Nassim Taleb. Antifragility is beyond resilience or robustness. The resilient resists shocks and stays the same; the antifragile gets better. That was 2020, a year of surviving and building our antifragility. It's preparing us for a new era, where we are more: š community-driven š digital-driven š remote-driven š and driven to succeed. Ducken happy new year! #stringtheory ā¦see more
I never had that Father figure growing up. And Iām not saying that to be down, Iāve just never had that. As kids we looked out for one another. We did what we had to do to survive. And for that I appreciate my dad. His absence taught us how to take care of ourselves. How to make shit happen on our own. How to survive. And Iām thankful for that. Because while we are building our new company some days I feel like Iām on top of the world. Some days I feel like Iām about to be laid out by a bus. Some days it feels like I was laid out by a bus. But itās a survivors game. And Iāve been playing it my entire life. _ Sometimes your weaknesses turn out to be your greatest strengths. #justQ š¤ ā¦see more
For so many of us, 2020 has been the year that wonāt let up.š« In these crazy times, #uncertainty continues to plague us in business can be cripplingāor empoweringāif we allow it to be. Here are some reminders to help you navigate a āwhat ifā world: You canāt control what happens; you can only control how you respond.ā No one asked for the year that 2020 has been and continues to be. Rather than ponder why this is happening and lament circumstances affecting your #career , remember there is one thing you can control: your response. Be mindful of what you consume.š§ āYou are what you eatā doesnāt only pertain to food; the same can be said in terms of the information you consume and its effects on your mental and physical wellbeing. Be aware of the people and sources you allow into your orbit, limit your exposure to those that trigger you, and seek additional perspectives that provide a balance of encouragement and #positivity . #Perspective is everything.š Asking and answering āWhat if?ā tends to bring out extreme anxiety. But remember, you always have two choices: the worst-case scenario where youāre paralyzed by fear or the best-case scenario where you allow yourself to imagine the possibilities and become empowered by the potential of good. #leadership #awareness ā¦see more
Iāve always had a love/hate relationship with the phrase āstrong independent womanā. On one hand, it was used as a compliment. It was often used in conjunction to people saying I would make a great businesswoman. On the other hand, it was also used as an insult. People would use it in conjunction with statements like āshe has too high of expectationsā or āshe definitely doesnāt care about being likableā. I love Meryl Streepās response to why she plays āstrong-minded womenā. āNo one has ever asked an actor [why theyāre] playing a strong-minded man. We assume men are strong-minded, or have opinions. But a strong-minded woman is a different animal." What do you think about the term? #leadership #femaleleaders ā¦see more
Today I became the proud parent of a midshipman. "Fair winds and following seas" USNA class of 2021.
Quick Market Update: Bad Economic News Overwhelmed by Good Medical News this Morning, and rightly so On the economic front, the worse than expected drop in US Q-1 GDP ā at minus 4.8% āis indicative of the huge economic hit damaging every element of private sector activity. And with the shut down not reaching critical mass until the start of the fourth week of March, quick back of the envelope calculations suggest the Q-2 contraction could be as large as 40%. Against this, the good (Gilead treatment related) medical news confirms that, with scientists working really hard, every day gained is a win. And that's where the two issues link up. Sound and timely economic policy making is needed to provide a long enough runway for medical advances ... by containing current and future damage to the economy while minimizing costly distortions. #economy #markets #Gilead #coronavirus #covid19 ā¦see more

Being in a new role as the Head of Product in a company that has so many exiting opportunities going on for it and that the roles of the product, design, and development are so key for its success, could be a lot to take on. I'm having a great time getting a lot of super interesting work done at my new role at Halo Neuroscience such as defining Halo's products and experiences, establishing light processes to help our teams to be more effective, building teams, and getting Halo Neuroscience to the next stages. When I reflect back on how I gained my skills and learned some of the best practices I'm utilizing in my new role, I felt I owe a huge "THANK YOU" to a few of the product and design leaders I've worked with in the past and learned tremendously from. Thank you Tim Roberts , Marianne Braunstein , Sumner Paine , Nick Myers , Jonathan O. , and Ayse Kulahci . I'm putting a lot of the things I've learned from you into practice every day. I appreciate your leadership and mentorship throughout my career. #mentorship #leadership #product #productdevelopment #productmanagement #bestpractices #buildingproducts #teambuilding ā¦see more
Conspiracy theories have one thing in common: whoever starts circulating them push their own agenda. And many people tend to believe them, because they are always more fascinating than the simplest explanation for COVID-19: that it's just an unfortunate, but statistically inevitable event that experts have been warning us for decades. I decided to debunk all the related theories one by one with the power of facts and science - because we can only stop the spread of the virus if we stop the spread of misinformation around it too. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #COVID19 #COVID_19 #coronavirus #conspiracy #conspiracytheories ā¦see more
