To choose yourself you must first be #fearless. To know that #abundance is everywhere, not just hidden behind the masks you wear to display your #skills to the public.
Your brain stores information. Everyone knows this. But why? The fact that I know my name is "James Altucher" is an evolutionary miracle. I know a guy (you've probably heard him on my podcast) who's an actual "#BrainCoach." He has taught his #memory techniques to high profile clients like Elon Musk, Will Smith, execs at Nike, Virgin, and more. And because I personally believe in Jim Kwik so much, I hired an animator (Communimation) to show you exactly how to master your memory. Why does this matter... Well let me just quote Jim. "I think the art of memory is the art of attention and presence” ---- 💥If you like this animation. Most Americans don’t care all that much about politics (in contrast to most Americans on twitter). That makes the 67% turnout in last week’s election all the more extraordinary and inspiring. But it also makes it easier to bring the country back together. …see more
Sonia Sng and I met last summer when she invited me to come speak at Visa & The Peninsula College Fund Career Day with a group of low-income students. Despite being a VP, Sonia has always made herself accessible for advising, mentoring, and volunteering. Since then, we’ve stayed in touch and I learned how kind Sonia was as a leader. She’s been a mentor and now a friend. So excited for your next chapter at Intuit ! Looking forward to all the amazing work and social and impact efforts you’ll shepherd there! Thanks for all that you do! 🙌 …see more
I think for those without kids, one of the hard things about this year is that we've been banned from doing all the things that make us feel most ALIVE. Really living is so much about the energy of others, the feeling of being in a specific place and moment, a sense of true connection, of scarcity. I've been quite introverted mostly, never been a huge music festival lover, or theatre goer,, or clubber, but the idea of the energy of a gig, of something live, of something ephemeral, of something shared, or dancing ..... Get me some of that. (Just a realization, not a comment on strategy) …see more
For 99.99999% of Human life, work was suffering. From about 1930-2015 work was supposed to be OK, quite fair, based on security & dedication (employer as a parent) From about 2015 onwards, somehow work is supposed to be meaning/enlightenment (employer as best friend). We're supposed to enjoy ourselves, feel purpose, express ourselves. It's supposed to be fair, it's supposed to be 100% safe, fun.....perhaps even quite easy? I'm not sure we've come to terms with how unusual that is, how unlikely that is, how unsustainable it is.But yet we're held account to that. Work in the pandemic has become even more human, we see into each others rooms, we see Clients kids and pets, we hope for support from each other. Our work expanded to take over our lives and identity. Clearly the very best work comes from people who are happy, treated well, connected, committed to, supported. Clearly fairness is ideal, clearly doing a job you get meaning from is perfect. Yet at the same time that Companies generally expect more from employees than ever before, they also generally offer the least commitment, the least security, the least help than ever before. It feels like there is a lot to explore & discuss when it comes to this strange mid stage, where we've not made sense of the modern world. …see more
Had an incredible weekend at the School of Life Conference in New York this weekend. Learned so much about the world, and myself. One of the most obvious questions it raises is how on earth do we have 10-20 years of formal education without ever being asked to really learn about ourselves, to really ponder on how to really build relationships, to communicate clearly. How to be calm, how to derive meaning and purpose, how to be resilient, tolerant etc. Seems we expect these things to come from other classes or just by being alive, or to be passed to us innately as instinct. Turns out this course makes it very clear how wrong this is. If you'd ever consider going, I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. Not going to link to it as I never want people to think I link to things for some gain.. …see more
Why should women manage their money? Why not??? Women tell me they find finance difficult and boring. They say they don’t need to. But they do. Let’s make it interesting, fun and simple for them. Leaders: sharing your wisdom doesn’t diminish your impact; it amplifies it. And the best way to magnify your message is to harness the power and reach of #socialmedia . Here’s how: Focus on one idea at a time. When sharing your insights, keep to one brief, compelling message that’s easily absorbed and retained. Share more than just the wins. Nothing is a bigger turnoff than someone who is continuously boasting. Being vulnerable and sharing the ups and downs of your business life helps you better connect with others. Skip the self-promotion. Don’t make the mistake of using your social platforms for blatant self-promotion. Instead, focus on sharing real-world business experiences and leadership lessons learned. Regularly publish your insights. Sharing your thoughts is great, but not if you only do it occasionally. As your network gets used to seeing your posts published regularly, they’ll come to look forward to—and trust—your insights and observations. Engage with your audience. Merely posting isn’t enough. Remember that in sharing your wisdom, the best possible outcomes are to start conversations and build relationships. Encourage both by engaging with those who choose to like, comment, and share your posts to forge better connections. #leadership …see more

I'm trying a new thing that's important to me. There's constant fear mongering on tons of issues. When Iran got in the news, my kids were worried it was the end of the world and they would be drafted. So I did a podcast with an expert (as opposed to a spectator on Facebook shouting into an echo machine) and I helped calm people down. I did this for Iran, for automation and AI, And I did it about he Coronavirus...today! So many times I see common sense turn people into animals. I want my podcast to help bring people the truth and help people calm down. . . . . #writing #lifestyle #podcast #coronavirus …see more
Are people not reading your emails? It’s frustrating when people don’t respond to emails. Your coworkers may never get that important information about a project you’re working on, and your boss may never answer the urgent question you have. Why? They probably get so many emails every day that they choose to ignore some of them to save time. Some of your emails may even get deleted without your recipient ever reading the message.
