We multitask and we wear that badge proudly. But what about listening? Like the long-gone days of fine calligraphy, will the art of listening become a rare hobby with reducing attention spans? We all want to be listened to, just that our patience wears thin when we need to be the listeners. Great listeners are a treasure. We can all learn to be better at this important life skill. a. Give undivided #attention : Authentic listening is an act of concentrated focus. Put away the smartphone or the laptop & give the other person your complete attention, at least for the allocated time. b. Be a trampoline: Good listening is about absorbing with #intent what the other person is saying, but it doesn’t stop at that. It involves providing the speaker with a new #perspective — a good listener is like a trampoline, always directing the energy of the #conversation forward. c. Listen to listen & not respond: Sometimes, listening just becomes a reactive activity. We think of our response even while the person is talking! But listening becomes an inherently more #compassionate action if we pause & choose to respond, putting ourselves in that person’s place instead of reacting. This kind of listening #validates people & #connects us to them. …see more

Looking for a healthy way to escape the chaos and harness the power of the pause? Let's #LightUpLinkedIn . A little over two years ago, Bruce Kasanoff and I co-authored and published “I Am,” a book of short meditations. Our intent was to provide an antidote for a distracted, multitasking world, a way for folks to regularly take some time to break free from all of the thoughts, interruptions, duties, and beliefs competing for our attention. We know a few minutes of reflection helps shift reality to lift the fog and allow possibilities to emerge. And it’s moments like those that can help restore your sanity and ground you. With the ever-present Coronavirus looming and life as we know it turned upside down, we’d like to do our part to offer a brief respite from the chaos. In addition to the “I Am” passages I’ve shared here, please visit i-am-books.com to access ALL of our book’s short meditations, ungated and available free of charge. Even if you’ve never tried meditation before, this is the perfect opportunity to begin. We hope as you read through and quietly reflect on the entries, they provide you with a much-needed boost of encouragement, and help you escape distractions, unlock your imagination, and unleash your potential. #meditation #Coronavirus …see more
We looked around what could scare off financiers from funding tough medical issues, and have a suggestion on how to bring forward solutions for marginalized health problems. Read on.
Noticed on the late afternoon walk with the pup: The local beaches have gone from closed for weeks ... to “active use only” three weeks ago ... to little regard for social distancing today. It appears that reversion to the mean behavior prevails over concerns about data showing rising infections and hospitalizations. …see more

I hope people are noticing that Instagram (social network), Klarna (a payment layer) , Shopify (Technology platform) , Google ( A search engine) and Walmart ( A retailer) are all essentially moving towards the precisely same thing- A visually rich place to discover things to buy. I mean it shouldn't be new news or shocking, but I firmly think a lot of people misunderstand that the lines and containers of the past are irrelevant now. Almost all competition is asymmetric. What matters now is who used to challenge you, but who can move into your space and what cards do they hold? Is it easier for someone with trust, an audience, technology or expertise or assets to win? We've long assumed tech companies played the killer cards, but that's not always the case. They often just have deeper pockets to lose and last longer than others. But rethinking your competitors and your gameplan and more imaginatively has never been more vital …see more
A good way to send a connection request on here is to explain why you are doing it and what you’d like to gain or give. Be honest, be direct, be real, by all means just say someone seems interesting and you don’t know what it could lead to one day.
It’s impossible to use models to predict the likely success or failure of anything that’s never been done before. Requiring people into use them is a great way to ensure you have zero chance of ever doing anything meaningfully different.

The thing I love MOST about being so "in-the-weeds" as a top LinkedIn creator is that I have the opportunity to travel and teach communities everywhere how to use Linkedin to reach their goals! And definitely not in a vanilla way... filled with energy and flavor with sprinkles on top! "Everyone at the table I was at agreed that this was the best Social Media Breakfast event we had ever attended, filled with value. I couldn't stop taking notes and have never seen an event SO packed!" Here's the thing... I execute a digital marketing strategy and practice what I preach, unlike most social media speakers who practice on behalf of clients, not a #personalbrand project AND client success. Shoot me a message if you'd like me to come to speak to your association or organization! I have a few spots left in Oct. and Dec. yet this year. Have you seen me speak IRL?! ❤️ Tag a person or organization you think would benefit from learning more about building a professional digital reputation online leveraging LinkedIn and personal branding! #DigitalMarketing #SocialMedia #MarketingSpeaker #PublicSpeaker #LinkedIn #Sales #SalesTips #SalesHacks #Inclusion #ChantelShares …see more
