The two most annoying things in advertising at the moment. #1 The endless stupid use of the expression "storytelling". It shows that we don't have any understanding of what we do or how real people actually function in the world. #2 The misguided belief that we've incredible amounts of data, that it's clean, easy to use, that we need more of it, and that everything must be "data driven". While cleaning out a shed on our cottage property I came across a box of old college memorabilia that had been sitting there since the 1970. Many generations of field mice had wintered in it and it was full of excrement. I was about to heave it into the dumpster when I noticed a roll of super 8mm film sitting at the bottom. It was my long lost first production I had made for my film101 class. It looked destroyed but I sent it to #digmypics to see if they could restore it. I remember the professor told us we needed to explore the topic of mental health for our first assignment. There was a lot of drinking and recreational drugs around my dorm and a fair amount of anxiety, depression and alcoholism to go with it. I don't think that has changed much on any college campus. In retrospect I wonder if this topic stayed with me because when I was approached to be an early investor in a start up that wanted to explore the use #psychedelics as medicine for mental health, I dug in deep and made it a core holding in my venture portfolio. As we approach the end of #2020 #MindMed $MMEDF has become my best performing investment for the year. Talk about foreshadowing!
