I can't stop thinking, and really worrying, about the loss of jobs due to the CoronaVirus The 16.8 mm lost jobs in the US in just three weeks ( think about this, just three weeks) equal 10% of the labor force -- or the peak unemployment rate during the Great Recession. All this comes with enormous pain and suffering and the risks of a deeper opioid crisis, domestic violence, etc ... #jobs #unemployment #recession #joblessness #pain #suffering …see more
Slowly around the world we’ve got some amazing events to look forward to. The first hug with our parents, the first meal out with friends, the first drinks in a bar, the first haircut, the first music festival, sporting event, the first day dropping off kids at school, the first flight, the first holiday. Everything from museums to galleries to conferences. We now have an empty calendar, cleared out obligations, we get to put back into our lives what we want to add in, not what we’ve inherited or assumed or did from muscle memory or social pressure. There’s a lot of sadness, a lot of fear and worry, and it’s often well placed, but there is an incredible series of magical simple things we can slowly look forward to and do. And maybe with renewed appreciation. …see more
I have been a fan of M.S.Subbulakshmi. It is why I recently picked up the book. I highly recommend it if you are interested in the evolution of Carnatic music. In fact, I highly recommend it for anyone. She took extraordinary risks, excelled at her craft, remained untouched by fame and fortune. Ultimately, it is a #story of #triumph against odds because you #believe in your #instincts and pursue your #dreams . #WeekendMusings …see more

Sorry but I don’t really care about your accomplishments in 2018 or your tips or resolutions for 2019. I’d love to see this place as somewhere to listen not broadcast, to argue to learn and not to win, debate to listen not to drive engagement. And yes I see the profound hypocrisy in this. I don’t know what to do about that. …see more
The Amul girl always makes me smile and think. By now she is iconic. She is #fearless , she has an opinion on a variety of subjects. She has a say in every consequential event in the country. Amul is one of the most appealing brands in India. Currently, there is increased awareness and interest in "buying local", but #Amul mastered local well ahead of time. Studying how this #brand was built is useful for any aspiring #startup building their brand. …see more

4 essential factors for #ScalingUp : 1. 46% of startups fail to scale due to lack of planning. With scale, people, systems & processes need total re-engineering. So, to continue scaling without stalling, look to 'Change the engine while you are flying'- hard but not impossible. 2. Will your unit economics be sustainable when you scale? Do you have enough runway (cash) to reach critical milestones? The worse time to run out of cash is in the middle of growth momentum. 3. Everyone loves your product. Tide turns easily if technology and product aren’t built for scale. There are no second chances in customer experience. 4. Invest time and effort in hiring & retaining the right people. It may seem obvious, however often people are hired to solve for the present needs and not looking ahead 2 years out. …see more

I recorded 500+ videos before anyone took notice. That's how it works. They won't notice the hours you put in right away. The pain. The struggle. The failure. The anxiety. Or all of the times that you contemplate quitting. They won't care. Not until you win them over. And that's the thing... no one owes you a view. No one owes you a like. No one owes you a share. No one owes you support or a follow. You have to earn that. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #entrepreneurship #business 🎥 Ken K. …see more

#Happiness is when you do good things for yourself, but do them just a little each day – else disappointment and failure.

The way you do this: celebrate the small successes that sprout up each day. This gets you to climb to the next. And then so on. This is the most common thing among everyone I've interviewed.
Things I explored in my 20s: • Learnt things that weren’t core to my career • Experienced different cultures • Polished my speaking skills • Outdoors, trekking, camping, backpacking • Personal finances • Learnt swimming • Lived in many places, learnt to make new friends • Gained confidence to speak up • Learnt to take risks • Learnt to start a company, an NGO • Spent hours at library immersed in reading #PersonalDevelopment #Motivation #Life …see more

My least favorite pitch starts with where you went to uni, or whether you left Facebook or Google to start the business, or who else you've invested in. My favorite will always start with a problem you are solving better, or a new thing that's relevant and now possible.
