As a black entrepreneur, I shrugged off race for a long time. But, people like me do not have the privilege to “ignore” what is happening right now. I have a business to run. I have bills to pay. I have responsibility to the people that follow me… but it’s impossible to think about anything else right now. If I can use even a portion of my influence to bring some change, I know that I have to. I WILL NOT ignore the state of the world. If you have questions, ask. If you need resources, ask. If you want to help, ask. We are all in this together. Period. And if you don’t view it like that then I’m going to ask you to unfollow me. Because I’m tired of living in a world that values assimilation over diversity. I’m tired of living in a world that kills for differences. I’m tired of living in a world that would rather take comfort in privilege and division, than be uncomfortable while progressing. Ignoring is a privilege that I do not have (and many do not have). I don’t have all of the answers. I don’t speak for all black/brown people. But I do hope that social can be a place in which we can discuss and grow.
