When I graduated high school, college was the expected next step. For the past four years, I have had friends attend classes with me. I’ve had friends drop out to start their own companies. And, I’ve had friends succeed and fail at turning their education into work opportunities. What I learned is that college isn’t for everyone, but the University of Southern California was the best option for me. People have different paths to success, and each has its own unique pros and cons. I wouldn’t want my little brother to feel pressured to do something just because his friend, his brother, or older sister did it. You have to do what’s best for you. #education #graduation …see more

Social Media doesn't mean anything any more, so can we stop using the term. Is YouTube social media ? Is Whatsapp? Is Flipboard? Is Skype? Is Yelp? Wikipedia? Is Amazon? Is the New York Times? In 2017 ALL Media is Social and all "Social" is Media.

#Daydreaming is the first step for an idea or thought to take root. In fact, it is important in shaping the future as it allows entrepreneurs to disconnect from gritty reality and allows them clarity of vision to scale heights that others would be afraid to broach. It's not that #entrepreneurs take higher risk, it's just that their perception of risk is colored differently from the rational thought that they are surrounded by. Much of my childhood and youth I would daydream about faraway lands, accomplishments, ideas and visualize a positive space. While daydreaming is frowned upon as escapism, I believe it is, in general, a very useful attribute. …see more

Anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a #culture . The student expected Mead to talk about fishhook, or clay pots, or grinding stones. But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization is #compassion . A femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed was discovered from an ancient culture 15,000 years ago. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink, or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal. A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. “Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts,” Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, #committed citizens can’t #change the world; For, indeed, that's all who ever have.” We are at our best when we serve others. Be #civilized .. be #safe .. be #cautious .. be #caring . #WeekendMusings …see more

Technology we know is applied everywhere from medicine to education. And #AI has allowed us to understand the human body better and way to improve learning. But I found this video with the concept of bringing #history to life, using the power of technology, most intriguing and meaningful. Technology coupled with tremendous effort and detailing has made this possible. #Technology has always demonstrated how the world could be. This one amazes us with how the world was - beautiful, bustling, brilliant! Video Credits: Al Jazeera Media Network , Denis Shiryaev …see more

It's strange Apple made a "Digital" Credit card, and then made a physical copy of it, and then didn't add NFC to the card, and then used Mastercard as the payment layer. If you really wanted to rethink payments, it would be a digital wallet like Venmo/Klarna, it would store receipts, it would add aspects like Loyalty cards to retailers, offer advice. It may use data to serve special offers. Suggest reordering things that may be perishing, or warranties as items age or offer advice. We always add technology to old models, rather than rethinking them, we replicate the same mistakes but in a more sophisticated way. …see more
