I’m 26 years old and I am not an expert. I’m not really sure how I could be at this point. Up until a few years ago I always had a chip on my shoulder. ✅ Prove to all my haters that I could build a successful company. ✅ Prove to the world that I was good enough. ✅ Prove to myself that I knew what I was doing. And so a lot of that took the form of creating content centered around tips, and how-to’s in business (even though I really didn’t understand the business that I was in yet). For young (and all) people: it’s okay to not be an expert. It’s actually quite liberating and frees you up to become one. Think like an artist. They create. And create. And create. Until someone notices. And then they share the how-to’s of their “business”. It’s why [for the most part] I stick to sharing what I’m doing. Not what I think others should do. Just something to think about. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #entrepreneurship #business …see more

I want to be honest with you. 👇🏽 I quit my full time job when I was 22 to start my first company. I had no plan. And I guess long term that worked out for me. But where I wish I could go back and reframe my thinking is this: I thought it was wrong to build something on the side. I thought I would lose respect if I took a part-time job (even though I was struggling to keep the lights on). I looked down on people that didn’t jump all in. Which was SO naive of me. I thought building a business was easy. Because the people I followed kind of made it look easy. One of the things I struggle with most as a creator & entrepreneur is showing the reality. I don’t show: ✅ The boring stuff. ✅ Us getting ripped apart by our business coach every week 😅😭. ✅ How much work actually goes into this. ✅ The many mistakes we make. ✅ And I could go on and on. Thank you Cory Savage for prompting this thought. And thank you i.c stars for asking me to do the commencement speech this year. 2020 I want to spend more time talking about (and showing) the stuff that many of us tend to avoid. What do you wish you knew when you first started? #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #business #entrepreneurship …see more
Did you know that nearly 80% of what we see on social media isn't even real? #Instagram is filled with pretend models, posing in front of cars and stacks of cash that aren't theirs. #Facebook is filled with ads for entrepreneurs with fluffy business models that won't pan out for most. Even on #LinkedIn many creators / founders / owners that aren't nearly as successful as they portray - even some with a track record of fraudulent behavior! Now don't worry, nothing is wrong with your device... 😱 I'm just simply not wearing makeup... 😱 Didn't use a filter... 😱 Or any video softening tools. Because you NEED to remind yourself to be cautious of everything you consume on the internet. 👉NEVER compare. 👉Don't envy strangers. 👉Channel those emotions into fuel to propel yourself FORWARD. And ALWAYS make sure to perform a background check on potential business partners. You rock and you're perfect the way you are. #SocialMedia #DigitalMarketing #Sales #Marketing #Inspiration #Inspire #ChantelShares …see more

If I read one more piece about how Voice, Big Data, ChatBots, Machine Learning and Augmented Reality is the future of Marketing I'm going to scream. Why does everyone repeat the same cliches ad nauseum?
Please can we stop shaming people for trying to feel a tiny bit alive. Can we stop shaming people who want to play sport. Who want to go to school or send their kids to school. Please can we stop judging those who want to go on a vacation or who want to see their grand-parents. Stop shaming those for wearing too much PPE or too little. For being too cautious or not enough. For working too hard or too little or too far away. For asking questions for using their own curiosity to learn from. Stop shaming people for caring about the wrong people. For caring about this and not other things. The messaging from day one has been a mess. The science from day one has been a mess. There is confusion Generally people are doing the best they can. They are trying to keep the companies they set up afloat, trying to look after their staff, trying to get an education, trying to eek out the best of a crappy year. Can we hold back the judgment of those trying to life a tiny, trying to keep their shit together, trying to keep hope, trying to smile. Trying to make sense of it. …see more

Where do we find the truth? As the business of news has become, well, a business…it seems to have become more and more difficult to actually find the truth. Even search engines are no help. So I called James Harding, former Director of BBC News and the founder and editor-in-chief of Tortoise, a new news service, to uncover the truth about the truth. This is…A Bit of Optimism.
