I just had my second TEDx curation meeting for the talk I'm giving next year. One of the first things I told them was, "I'm in a bit of an existential crisis right now." I don't want to be motivational. I don't want to have a traditional story. One of the curators told me, "even just listening to you just now I felt motivated. And hearing you talk about your subject I was inspired." And it made me realize that 1). it's okay to be motivational. 2). I was once a person that needed to someone to show them the way. And to neglect that would be to neglect the people that are walking in the same shoes I once was. It's not our job to decide what people take away from what we share. But it is our job to share. One of my favorite movies is 'Remember Me'. And there's an awesome quote that goes something like this: There will be times when we feel insignificant. Times when we are told we are insignificant. But it's still important that we take action, because we are always causing ripples in the universe whether we realize it or not. (with my own spin). Keep making ripples in the Universe. #justQ 🖤 …see more

I just did my first TEDx talk! 😍 Which is crazy to me because I literally puked in the bathroom a few minutes before my first speaking engagement a little over a year ago. And now, nerves don't effect me because of this 👇🏽 I learned this from Kobe Bryant and people like Michael Phelps: When Kobe was still in the NBA he created this on court persona, the Black Mamba. Off the court, Kobe had to deal with everyday life issues. But on the court, Black Mamba's only focus was dominating on the court. And having that mental separation, and focus, is something that's helped me as an athlete, musician, and now as a speaker. 1). Having a routine that helps me get into my zone. 2). Creating a persona that reminds me that it's okay to be nervous. Because the minute that I step on stage the nerves will turn into focus. 3). When it's time to perform, just hit "play" on your tape. The tape being all the preparation you've had up until this point and the routine that you've perfected (Michael Phelps does this). That's why nerves no longer effect me. What's your prep look like? #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more

Success is the ability to work within constraints and still achieve extraordinary results. I recently watched the new documentary on Apollo13. I had also seen the old one some 20 years back. I was still as riveted now as I was then, and it again made me think about how our true potential and character is revealed in the ways we solve our problems despite all our constraints. #Weekendmusings …see more
At some point we convinced ourselves the expected tempo of life was to reply to as many things as possible as fast as possible and then we stopped thinking, and stopped doing things well. Twitter, Linkedin, Texts, are all massively to blame for this incessant need to be always on, immediate and thoughtless. Life as swatting things back, not making the most. Please can we default to doing things well and slowly, unless otherwise clearly indicated. Let things marinate. Ideas combine, words mature and to say no to some things. …see more
Perhaps the most perilous career on earth is that of the professional ballet dancer. There are only a handful of companies on earth, you train from childhood for a position in the corps de ballet where you are paid almost nothing. Then if you are incredibly talented and lucky you become a soloist and maybe .01% make it to a principal position. Then you turn 35 and you too old and you are cast out as a has been. Finished at 35 and you know no other life. Why would anybody do that to themselves? Because they love dance? Because they are crazy? Maybe both? https://cnb.cx/3rnsOnb …see more

THE ULTIMATE CHEAT SHEET FOR SELLING ANYTHING: All of this is from my own experience. Which means it might not work for you. Which means it might go counter to the basic rules of salesmanship. I have no idea. But I can say that over the past 25 years, I’ve sold hundreds of millions of dollars of stuff. That stuff being everything in Pandora’s box that I had to sell just to stay alive. When I thought of what worked for me... [here’s what I came up with: http://bit.ly/2issyVo ] …see more

Is investing on your list of New Year’s resolutions? It should be! Here are 4 reasons you should start investing NOW.
Why you should create "something" daily 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 Imagine you have two designers of the same skill level [total beginners] sitting at a table. - You tell the 1st designer, "create a design to the best of your ability. You have 30 days." - You tell the 2nd designer, "create a design every day for the next 30 days." More than likely the 2nd designer is going to come out on top every single time. They're failing more. Running into more challenges. Etc. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece. It doesn't even have to be published. But create every day and you'll come out a better content creator. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #entrepreneurship #business …see more
Yesterday was the first time I stepped on a stage since my little brother passed away in October. 🎤 🖤 This photo kind of explains how it felt. Like who I used to be finally faded away and gave way to who I’ve become. Someone came up to me after and said “you said more to me in 10 minutes than I heard all day.” And that is all that matters. That I speak to the people that I need to. That I impact the people that I need to. And not change for those that don’t like me. I’m in a good place. Weird place. But good place. Creating & doing what I want. Hopefully at the end of it all I’ll be someone my brother would be proud of. So if you’ve stuck around this far. Hey. It’s nice to [re]meet you. I’m just Q. And if you just started following me... hey. It’s nice to meet you. This is going to be fun. 🖖🏽🖤 #justQ #business #entrepreneurship 📸 Ken K. …see more
