Recruitment is broken . We followed this journey. The internet made it easy and free to post ads. The internet made it even easier and free to apply for jobs. The incremental cost of time and money in applying for 100 more jobs became effectively zero. Thus every job became inundated with applicants. Thus every recruiter used rudimentary, objective & deeply boring and unimaginative ways to make the inbound numbers manageable. At the best using dull criteria like "degrees", at the worst filtering for words and then using stupid forms of AI. And they could never spend time getting back to unsuccessful candidates, let alone give feedback. Recruiters kept job ads vague as it makes people feel vulnerable to be interesting and strange on the internet, and they kept old postings for jobs they no longer needed people for because it "looked good" and why not keep fishing. See the next bit in comments. …see more

I know 5G is supposed to be all exciting but just look how amazing websites can be in the age of 4G. Check out this site on mobile. It’s just pure deliciousness. It blows my mind we accept Amazon when stuff like this is possible.

STOP whining. And stop using the word “FAILURE”. Blah! Here are better things to learn from. Failure has many cousins. Learn from one of the cousins: Curiosity: When something happens and you don’t understand why, then ask, “Why?” Keep asking questions. Clearly, something confusing happened. Ask and ask and ask. Guess what will happen: you will get answers... http://bit.ly/2wBiq2a …see more

Earlier this week, Musk made a subtle comment on Twitter that could majorly upend the auto industry. In response to an article in Teslarati highlighting German automakers' attempts to bridge the gap between Tesla's technology and their own, Musk tweeted the following: "Tesla is open to licensing software and supplying powertrains & batteries. We're just trying to accelerate sustainable energy, not crush competitors!" Consider for just a moment the brilliant potential of Musk's statement. Everyone could benefit: -Legacy automakers can (almost) immediately catch up to Tesla's tech, allowing them to focus on what they're good at: manufacture and delivery. -Tesla makes lots and lots of money from the licensing deal, allowing it to continue to lead the way in software innovation. -The general population benefits the most, as the auto industry as a whole moves closer to its goals of using more sustainable energy, and incorporating new technology in its vehicles. That's what I call: win-win-win. #elonmusk #tesla #elonmusk #toyota #vw #gm #ford #autoindustry #productivity #emotionalintelligence #MakeEmotionsWorkForYouNotAgainstYou …see more

One thing I’ve learned this year is how badly equipped we are for moral discussions in 2020. So quick to take offense, so likely to presume bad intent, so enraged by any debate that matters. So drawn to emotion not logic. Wonder how we can have those bigger conversations in the future. They are essential.

"Coworker #relationships are actually made up of a series of 'micromoves' — small actions or behaviors that seem inconsequential at the moment but affect how we relate to one another. Micromoves are like the steps that characterize a dance. You take a step, and then your coworker takes a step. Each step, or micromove, can change the direction of the relationship." …see more

Growing up in a low income family, I didn't get the chance to travel much when I was young. I grew up with the mindset that traveling and taking vacation was a waste of money and time. Last year, a few close mentors and managers pushed me to take time off to get away from work. I took my first solo trip to Japan last summer and learned the simple joy of learning about other cultures, especially the food! So glad to have the chance to come back to Japan for the second time this past week to celebrate my birthday (photo taken at the infamous Sushi Dai w/ Jessie and Benna )! Taking time off is now part of my process for self care and most importantly, to spend time with people who matter in my life. It's so easy to forget that the most important thing in your career is you yourself, not in just your goals and objectives. What do you do for self care? Comment below. …see more

I was unemployed and unemployable, according to my health... I applied for over a hundred jobs in the area without a single call back... desperate for income. I hustled hard, selling clothing and furniture online just to fill our tummies and keep the lights on. It wasn't until I met two radiant recruiters that completely changed my life. They didn't ask a single question about my challenges. Instead, they asked me questions like... "What interests you in the creative field?" And I shared a love of fairytales and creating something from nothing to stimulate fascination! and "I hear a puppy! What kind?!" And I shared my love for animals and meaningful relationships! They took the time to learn my personality OUTSIDE of what is seen on a resume... And within one week I had a job offer from each rep, Completely skipping the EOE questions to disclose my disability status and the need for reasonable accommodation. THANK YOU. To all recruiters across the globe, Matchmaking beyond what is shown on paper. You're changing lives. And in some cases, You're even saving them. And to anyone facing the same battle, Keep holding onto hope. There is a place for you in the workforce. #recruiters #careers …see more

"Ideas are cheap, implementation is everything" is said a lot these days by many smart people and it feels right, but I can't help but think it's becoming untrue. There are many wonderfully executed average ideas around right now ( Juicero, Instacart, WeFuel, Handy, TaskRabbit etc) and that really really good ideas are harder and more important than ever. What if we should hero great ideas again?

Rumi's work is deep, intense and touches the soul. His poetry often stirs an emotion never touched and shows a facet never seen. Some beautiful Rumi quotes that are relevant for our professional #success . 1. Let the waters settle and you will see the moon and the stars mirrored in your own being 2. Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself. 3. Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth. 4. Set your life on fire. Seek those who fan your flames. 5. Start a huge, foolish project, like Noah…it makes absolutely no difference what people think of you. 6. Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment. Cleverness is mere opinion. Bewilderment brings intuitive knowledge. 7. It’s your road, and yours alone, others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you. 8. Forget safety. Live where you fear to live. #constantlearning …see more

"What would you tell entrepreneurs that see your success and think you are too perfect to experience challenges?"🙄 Oh jeez. I had a fantastic call with best selling author of "Why Me First" and Mindset/Performance Coach, Kajal Khurana from Singapore. I had to contain my laughter on-air because I've been dealing with rejection a bit more than usual. Three opportunities fell apart over the past two weeks. A rejection from a local publication for the second time. Personal health issues. And more... But at this moment when I was supposed to mentor others, I was able to recenter and digest my own advice. ⬇ Lean into the rejection and understand that there is more out there for you. Your future holds greater things and losing these opportunities makes room for even BIGGER ones! Sometimes rejection is proof that you are going OUT there and doing MORE 👉 and that's a sign of effort on its own! Be proud of how far you've come, even if it isn't where you thought you should be. Agree? 👇 #Rejection …see more

Like many, I too have been reflecting as we near the end of 2016. This year marks 10 years since discovering The Golden Circle. Here is the origin of where it began. I share it with you as we are all on this journey together - to help build a world where the vast majority of people go to work feeling inspired and come home at the end of the day feeling fulfilled. By no means has our journey come to an end. This is the tip of the iceberg. We have more people to reach and more people to inspire. Together, we can change our world. Thank you for standing by my side. …see more

Analysts were expecting an ugly number for March retail sales in the US ... and what just came out was worse than most of these expectations. Sales dropped by almost 9%, setting a new record that is twice the biggest fall registered during the Global Financial Crisis. #economy #retailsales #markets …see more
