One of the big benefits of having a codified company culture is that it provides a framework for evaluating and reacting to situations. What has happened, and continues to happen at Away likely shows what happens when that isn't in place. #companyculture #startups #business …see more
In 2030, who – or what – will be eligible to win a Grammy? What will the categories evolve into? Will music need to be recorded at all?
As a follow up to my post yesterday about how the first-day glitches won't matter. The Walt Disney Company 's Disney+ signed up 10 million subscribers in just 1 day. Sure, we'll have to see how many are actually paying subscribers out of the gate, what conversion rates are like from free trial to paid, and what retention looks like, but if I worked at Disney+ I would be feeling pretty dang good about that launch. Even with the technical hiccups. #disney #disneyplus #streaming #subscription #netflix #amazonprimevideo …see more
A great reminder from one of the best. "The First Draft of Anything is Shit!" -Ernest Hemingway. Most people get so attached to what we write and it can make feedback and edits extremely personal. As you become more experienced practicing Word Economy, you will become grateful for the opportunity for revisions. #writing #marketing …see more
Kudos to front-line workers who top the most influential Torontonians list, a list that grants five positions to basketball and none to hockey.
Erasing the virtual history of 115 million users who contributed to 10 million groups seems short-sighted, misguided and simply wrong. It feels like a modern-day equivalent of book-burning. Think about this...
Chobani 's CMO, Peter McGuinness gets it. He touches on in-house creative and why that works (we did this at Netflix as well), why CMO churn can be terrible for companies, and why gloming on "purpose" to your brand if that isn't a core part of it rings hollow. Kindred spirit, right here. #brand #cmo #marketing #positioning #brandpositioning #chobani #netflix #morethanyogurt #inhousecreative …see more

Another great read from Dan Runcie on the business of hip hop. This time it's about music videos and the ability (or lack thereof) to adapt to changing market conditions. Worth a read, imho. #business #music #hiphop #musicvideos …see more
Y'all know I love a good list. There are some good practical tips here, but it's notable that two - possibly even three - of them deal directly with a woman's communication style: Let your voice be heard, and Speak with confidence.
Can you sign an AI to a recording contract? Should you? What would their riders possibly look like? We're talking about the future of music on the latest episode of Think About This with Shelly Palmer & Ross Martin. https://lnkd.in/eP8ar6v

This is a hard time for most humans alive today in one form or another. If you are feeling low and just need to chat it out, please feel free to shoot me a message. Please destroy my inbox! #covid19 #multifamily #technology #thankyou
I guarantee you at 18 years old, I had never even heard the term KPI let alone do what this guy, Connor Blakley , is doing. Pretty impressive. Have to say, I'm still not a fan of using terms based on demographics (e.g. Genz, Millennial). …see more
This is why it is important to seek more signal, less noise. Despite the furor and the seeming ubiquity of #deletefacebook, the bulk of us are unlikely to stop using social media. That doesn't let Facebook off the hook of how it allows data to be used by third parties but it certainly lessens the actual pressure they face. …see more
