If there’s one place that shouldn’t have a superspreader event—with the extraordinary resources available and its critical importance to national security—it’s the White House.
Google made waves recently by announcing its new program, "Google Career Certificates," a collection of courses designed to help participants get qualifications in high-paying, high-growth job fields without attending university. I think this move is a step in the right direction--a separate path for students who are looking for something different than traditional higher education. And it's coming at a time when it's needed most: a time when a global pandemic has thrust millions out of jobs. A time where skills-based training is in great demand. In the U.S., education is an industry, one that's been dominated by the same legacy players for far too long. And as in any industry, options are a good thing. Competition is a good thing. Because out of competition comes innovation. Out of innovation comes disruption. And out of disruption comes progress. So, for those who have held up progress for far too long, consider yourselves warned: Disruption has arrived. Change is coming. 🎤 I gave a commencement speech a few weeks back. 🎤 And one thought that held me back for the longest time when I was in their position was the thought that "You can be anything you want to be." I think that can be sound advice. But I also think it can be very dangerous advice. Because dreams don't work unless you do. So I just wanted to leave them with one thing. You can't be anything you want to be... but you can be anything that you put in the work to be. Here's a quick dive into the speech, a life changing meeting, and some social media changes I'm making! #justQ 🖖🏾🖤 #business #entrepreneurship …see more

Why did the Reserve Bank have to take the moratorium route to sew the Yes Bank deal? Why now? Why couldn't the management find investors? And, what next for Yes Bank?
This is an insightful article on how people promotions impact company culture and performance. The onus is on a company to make its promotions’ process well-defined and transparent. When employees are clear about how decisions are made on promotions, they know what is expected of them, and where their company is headed. Otherwise, employees are demoralised, and engage in unproductive guesswork, which helps nobody. All companies claim to have their own ‘culture’, but surveys show it is often superficial, and not ingrained amongst the employees. Also, criteria for promotions in one company may not work for another. It’s the guiding philosophy of the leadership team which determines the ‘culture’ of a company. Michael C. The weird thing about ecommerce for CPG/FMCG is we take the same products we sold in store. Take photos of them. List them badly and hope people buy them. Have we ever thought to : 1) Rethink unit size for online, maybe around time - "monthly pack" 2) Rethink packaging 3) Use better images to show what you're getting. 4) Think about product bundles. We lazily take old constructs and behaviors and pull through the new. You can't see how big, how many or really what type of product from this image. …see more
