Remember this: "Everybody is a Genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." 🌎 When we were first getting started as a company, one of our co-founders, Brema made a shirt "Genius from the Hood." And that always resonated with me and slowly became a part of our mission as a company. We want to show people it doesn't matter where you come from or what limitations you may have: Resourcefulness > Resources. And we always want to give back to whoever we can. "No matter where you're from, you're a genius. You just have to find your area of potential and let that light the way." — Brema Brema #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more
Israel was my roommate in college. And today we run a company together and we work with organizations like the Milwaukee Admirals . Ever since I've known Izzy he's always been obsessed with sports. Coming out of college he was offered a job with multiple professional teams and he worked with a few before we decided to launch our company together. At the time we didn't know we would be where we are right now working with the clients that we have and building the community that we have today. So I wanted to know why he decided to make the leap into entrepreneurship and a pivotal moment in his life that lead him to where he is today: - He was confident that regardless of the resources we had that we could make it happen. - When he was young his mom was diagnosed with MS. Because of that he refuses to take the little things for granted and promised himself that he would live every day to the fullest. Take the time to get to know your people. Even if you feel like you know everything already, people are always changing and always evolving. Feel free to join our community on Shapr if you would like to get to know us better. A couple months ago, I spoke at a conference where there were more speakers who were college dropouts than college graduates. I graduated earlier this year, and with so many of my friends being college dropouts, I really started to question the value of my degree. I put the question out to Linkedin on whether a college degree was really relevant in today’s economy. After reading all your comments, I decided to explore the value of my degree and answer the question, “Was it really worth it?” Check out my answer in my first Linkedin article in quite some time: "Defending My College Degree" (link in comments) Thank you to everyone who showed support for my article in my post from last month and pitched in to the conversation. #college #studentsoflinkedin #studentvoices #university …see more

Remember that anger is fear clothed, so when you feel anger always ask what you are afraid of – and if someone is angry at you, feel compassion because it only means they are afraid of something.

It’s time to stop hitting snooze on your alarm…here’s how to reclaim your morning! Here are three ways you can jump start your day. ⭐️ Start your day with a glass of water THEN your coffee. ⭐️ Why? It will re-hydrate you. Your brain tissue is 76% water. When you’re dehydrated, your brain is operating on low fuel. This can cause you to feel tired, drained and sluggish -the opposite of what you want and need to reclaim your morning. ⭐️ Move. Move your brain and your body. ⭐️ Spend 5 minutes on a cross word puzzle or read an article on a skill you want to develop. Get the blood flowing by moving your body with a quick set of yoga poses, some jumping jacks or push ups. ⭐️ Get an early win! ⭐️ Check an item off your to do list. Organize a drawer. Probably the good ( but generic ) advice for all companies in 2020 is to focus on doing a very small number of really simple things, that matter a lot, very well. Focus on Simple. Focus on what matters.

I'm geeked! I've joined an accelerator for young entrepreneurs. And I'm super excited: - Take our business to the next level. - Be surrounded by people that understand what I'm going through. - Learn from experts in their field. They've already helped me a ton and I want to give back. So I have a favor to ask. Future Founders is applying for a grant and there are only a few days left to vote. I'll drop the link in the comments. Thank you!!! #justQ 🖤 …see more
3 things I've learned from sharing my insecurities and professional struggles on LinkedIn: 1) Answers will arise. People will be there to help. 2) Some people will judge. That's okay. 3) There are WAY more people with the same insecurity than you expect. Day 6 of #30DS …see more

If October is as jam-packed as September was for me, I'm gonna need plenty of rest this weekend. After all, I head to Welches, Oregon next week for the Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) Fall Camp and Mentoring Project. That annual dose of inspiration and career re-charging will give me the energy to keep moving forward. In the meantime, ponder this thought I've been thinking: Be proud of who you are and how much you've accomplished at every single step along the way. Don't wait for the "perfect moment" or the right amount of money or the pat on the back from a boss. You know what it took to get to where you are. You've earned the right to bask in your own glow. #JAWS #media #accomplishments #milestones …see more
Before social media, people spent a lot of their time consuming blogs. Bloggers wrote about what they cared about. They created because they wanted to. They shared whatever they felt like. No filter. Next came social media and then we started asking questions like: ✅ How can I hack the algorithm? ✅ How can I gain more followers? ✅ What if this post doesn't get enough likes? ✅ What if I lose followers because I talk about another passion of mine? ✅ Etc. Social media is an extension of you. Post what you want to post. Create what you want to create. It needs to start with you. I am posting this as much for me as I am for you. We get so caught up in doing things for other people. I'd love to see how unique LinkedIn would look if we all shared the things that we actually wanted to share. Just some thoughts. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more
Don't strive to be an influencer... strive to influence people. Thought leader > Influencer. There's a big difference 👇🏾 All thought leaders are influencers. But not all influencers are thought leaders. A big focus for me in this next decade is to become more useful. And to build more thought leadership around my cluster of skills. When I was 21, I was confused about who I was and what I wanted to do. I read a blog that said something along the lines of this: identify 3-5 skills/passions and master the intersection between those. Looking into the future, this is what I am / will master: ✅ Human Behavior ✅ Strategy ✅ Business ✅ Story ✅ Video Games & Virtual Experiences I’m mastering the intersection between those. What are you mastering? What are you building thought leadership around? #justQ 🖖🏾🖤 #entrepreneurship #business …see more
The only way you can become the best at something is to focus on what you love instead of focus on what makes you angry. Or focusing on news that makes you upset so you fight all day on Twitter.
