I started saying "No" to people who weren't right for me.  I started saying "No" to everything I didn't want to do. I started saying "No" to mindless meetings, mindless events, mindless people who were bad for me, mindless food or alcohol, mindless anger and regret, and mindless TV and news. I started saying "No" to colonoscopies and other things related to painful medical experiments.  When you have a tiny piece of shit in the soup it doesn't matter how much more water you pour in and how many more spices you put on top. There's shit in the soup. I had been saying YES to the wrong things for 20 years. I started saying "No" to the bad things, and the "Yes" started to compound every day. What is the real India? On my recent trip to the US, I was surprised to get many questions about 'Made in Heaven'. I was surprised that people in the US had watched it on Amazon Prime. Questions were about marriages, gay rights, lifestyles. Is this the real India? Contrast with the movie 'Article 15', is that the real India? I think India is full of contrasts. We have to build bridges to understand the realities of the many Indias. My takeaways from the movie 'Article 15': 1. Bringing any change starts with tolerance and empathy. We can’t bring change, especially behavioral and cultural, by sitting comfortably in urban India. 2. The concept of the bottom of the pyramid gets quoted so often as a market opportunity. Dear Marketers, please stop this crazy obsession with customer feedback. Every time I buy something, stay in something, or do anything I’m asked how it was. But not in a way I can reply to. In a way I can score. You are not listening , you are measuring. And you are measuring something entirely pointless badly. All while irritating your best customers the most. Marketing is hard but empathy is easy.

When we talk about #innovation , we often think of innovation only at a scientific and product level. We know Apple has been great from a product innovation perspective. But not many talk about Apple from a retail innovation perspective. Apple has a dazzling 32-foot glass cube store with rainbow colours on 5th Avenue that is absolutely amazing. No Apple store has ever done that. I had recently visited another retail innovation by Apple in Washington DC, which is actually an old library converted into the Apple store. First of all, I love #libraries and then there is something about going to an old library and being able to explore new products.
