You can’t get rich at a job. You have to get rich by either starting a business or having multiple streams of income. A job is only one stream of income. “Me, Inc.” should diversify.

Pandemics have always been a part of history & there’s been one consistent trend – a gradual reduction in the death rate. Healthcare improvements and understanding the factors that incubate pandemics have been powerful tools in mitigating their impact. Researchers & doctors around the world are now trying to develop a vaccine for #COVID19 , which may take three months to a year. The hardest thing I’ve ever done was speaking at my little brothers funeral. It’s something you never think you’ll have to do. I’m more focused now than I ever have been when it comes to my business. But getting back into the swing of things for content creation has been odd. I have so much content backed up: videos, photos, etc. And none of it sounds like me anymore. None of it feels like me. I can do so much better. And as I re-find myself, I just want to put this out there for other creators...👇🏽 Don’t let what you created yesterday get in the way of what you want to create today. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #entrepreneurship #content …see more

Can everyone stop working on chatbots and start working on ways to avoid the need for them. It's like inventing an advanced robot to clean up after horse and carriages when you should be making a car. Solve the problem don't worship bad technology.

I don’t understand why job specs are so utterly boring. If you can’t be bothered to make it specific and compelling, then perhaps your company doesn’t think their talent is the most vital asset they have. Someone should really rethink the whole format. Maybe start with the values your looking for , the environment someone will thrive in, what you want that person to accomplish and why it matters. Talk about who they report into and the working styles it would suit. Mention how long you want them in the role . These days knowledge, experience and even skills are still important but not as important as in the past. I’ve known curious people pick up more in a weekend, that many have in 4 years in a role. If you see any great examples feel free to put them below …see more

I get a lot of pitches. Sometimes within 20 words I'm interested to know more. I reply & say " Please send me something I can watch or read to get me excited & that takes less than 3 mins of my time" 99% of companies seem unprepared for that, and want " a quick call" Please prepare for this request of mine. It doesn't seem like an unreasonable, unusual ask. And make different versions for your key different audiences. I won't care that much about production values either, just explain the idea/solution/benefit etc The number of calls you have shouldn't be the KPI, be more outcome focussed. …see more

It's weird how many people think that data is somehow neutral and make decisions based on it. Data reflects the agenda of the person sharing it with you, it's edited, manipulated, reformatted, omitted, in whatever way is required. It's anything other than unbiased.

For me, 2016- (the start of) 2020 was an epic story: ✅ Quit my full-time job to start a company. ✅ First company failed. Burned through funds, had to rent out my extra rooms just to pay rent, power was turned off a few times. ✅ Recorded videos documenting my thought process through everything. ✅ Eventually people took notice of my videos. I helped a lot of people grow in the same way that I did. ✅ I was homeless for a handful of months. Slept on my office floor. Sometimes Airbnb's or hotels. ✅ Launched a new company with a friend and two semi-strangers and we grew really quickly. Made a lot of mistakes. Make a lot of good decisions too. ✅ Spoke on stages like VidCon, TEDx, and INBOUND. ✅ I can now be tied back to the inception of a lot of LinkedIn influencers. This year has not been ideal. It wasn't a part of my plan. At the beginning of the year I felt like I was about to jump on a launch pad into a new universe. Now it feels like the next chapter... maybe even a new book. The more we linger on the old bullet points, the more we keep ourselves from creating new ones. I don't entirely know what the next chapter looks like. But I know it's going to be a good story. And that's all we really are anyway — stories. "Let's just make it a good one, eh?" #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more

🛑 Can we STOP using the word community in exchange for how many followers we have. 🛑 ✔️ A community is a place for people to gather. ✔️ It's a place where people can feel safe. ✔️ Where they can share, get value, and bring value. If someone hits the "like" button on your content that doesn't mean they are a part of your community. It means they liked your content. That's it. You have to work to get them in your community. You have to give them a reason to be in your community. A like is just a like. A community is a part of the journey. Who are some epic community builders that you follow? I wish work shadowing was a regular thing. I’d learn loads following someone around for a day and seeing what they did and how. Ideally someone a bit older and wiser but not necessarily. Having someone do that with me and asking “silly” questions about why I do things the way I do, would be great for both sides too. We should do it once every year for a day. Free training for two really.

As CEO of LinkedIn , Jeff Weiner has unique insight into how the world of work is transforming right before our eyes due to the emergence of Covid-19. Weiner recently highlighted an important point right here on LinkedIn: "'Free' time in between video calls is increasingly being absorbed by taking care of kids, caring for dependents, doing household chores, and myriad other ways in which people are jumping from one task to the next," said Weiner. "Combined with all the uncertainty related to physical and economic well being, it can take a toll. Make sure to carve out real buffer time: to catch your breath, get some exercise, or whatever you enjoy doing that helps put your mind at ease. It not only benefits you, it will benefit all of the people that count on you as well." In just over 24 hours, Weiner's post garnered 30,000 reactions and almost 1,000 comments. While at times it may seem impossible, it's more important to your productivity than ever to make sure you build buffer time into your schedule.
